Hello fellow readers-

Creating this thread for our fourth of seven Harry Potter books!

Please share your final ranking and thoughts below:

Alicia Jones | 32 comments Favorite chapter art: 24 Rita Skeeters Scoop with a picture of Hagrid with his dad on his shoulder

Fav character: Dumblydoor for trusting Harry and protecting him not only by keeping an eye on him but by keeping Serious in contact and close. For doing what’s right, even when it’s against the ministries wishes.

Fav side character: Our Weasley parents for continuing to make our muggles lives sound so magical in Arthurs experience with muggle post and blocked chimneys and Mollys motherly instincts for all our wizard and witch children, including showing up for Harry in the third trial.

Least fav character: Wormtail for being the catalyst in Voldemorts resurrection.

Favorite Art: Chapter 28 The Madness of Mr. Crouch - Drunk Depressed Winky is a funny visual sight

Favorite Character: Hermonie - A queen of house elves everywhere fighting for their freedom. Also kind of the only one consistently there for Harry throughout the entire book. She doesn't let her personal problems and insecurities stop from being a good friend unlike some other people.

Least Favorite Character: I honestly dont remember what I said. Malfoy for being an annoying twat maybe? Or possibly Snape for impeding Harry from getting help multiple times which is actively helping Voldemort get away with his rise to power.

Alex O. | 38 comments Favorite Character: Sirius Black. I enjoyed that his role was much larger in the book than in the movie and that he felt more prominent. He always seems to have Harry’s best interests at heart and does his best to protect Harry from Voldemort. He’s also one of the only adults to treat Harry like a grown up, instead of trying to shield him from the darker parts of the wizarding world.

Favorite Side Character: Cedric Diggory. An iconic character, as he’s the first to die in the series. His death signifies a major transition in the series, from light hearted children’s novels to a dark and brooding young adult series. Beyond that, he is handsome and nice.

Least Favorite Character: Percy Weasley. He’s gotten increasingly annoying as the books have progressed and no one else really irritated me as much as him.

Overall this was a great entry and struck the perfect balance between the light hearted magical wizarding world and the darker themes surrounding the second wizarding war.

Caleb Summers I'm 27 years old. This is technically my second time reading this book, but never finished the series my first time around when I was in high school. Anyone in the same boat?

I saw someone complaining about the chapter I just finished- The Quidditch World Cup. The comment was a complaint about how the mascots were interfering with the match. The commentor had a problem with the idea that this match should have been the most highly regulated event in the sport, yet it seemed like a lot of leeway was given to the mascots' interference.

However, it seems to me that this chapter is simply a representation that even the most professional, high level wizards and quidditch players can only be so serious. The whole wizarding world (at least those that aren't associated with Lord V) is generally happy-go-lucky and silly. That's my take. Please let me know if this resonates with you or if you disagree. Honestly, I just don't know anyone who is into this series and would love any conversation in any direction.

Hi Caleb, We actually all are 27/28 so what a funny coincidence. We are four friends that decided to start reading together and as a little side spin off of our normal book club we decided to tackle the harry potter series. Our group ranges from first time readers for every book, people who read some but not all, and some who have read them all and coming back to the series as an adult.

Would love to know your thoughts on the series thus far and your thoughts on the future books as you read them :)

(Our book club isn't "open" per say, but all of us got a bit tickled that you found our group here and responded and we want to know more about your thoughts)

Savanah | 71 comments Hi Caleb, that was an inside joke lol

I keep forgetting to put my comments in after we read and talk about our books. So this was my attempt at putting my comments in 😂

Caleb Summers My goodness. Well look at me- completely lost, yet exactly where I should be. Well, thank you all for being so welcoming. I appreciate you guys' willingness to chat.

Savannah, you read/are reading books and hopefully enjoyed this one. That's more than a lot of people are doing. It's really awesome that you guys are taking initiative and encouraging each other to stay diligent in reading. That's a very big deal.

Joshua, thanks for filling me in on where I seem to have landed. Found me wandering around Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ like a baby bird that fell out of the nest haha

So, I'm assuming that you have all finished this book. I just finished "The Dark Mark" chapter just last night. What a goof Barty Crouch is- just accusing anyone he'd like.
