Donna Davis (seattlebookmama) | 141 comments Here's something that has just come up. I use the Kindle app for my DRCs, but when reading an audiobook, I use the Shelf app. Tonight I finished a book, but decided I'd like to replay a segment of it for my spouse in order to improve my review. I couldn't do it! Is this app designed to prevent us from hearing the book (or parts of it) more than once, or am I doing something wrong? It occurred to me that since the app doesn't sync between devices, I could probably get around this problem by downloading it onto a different device and replaying it that way, but that seems like a silly thing to have to do. Suggestions? Hacks?

Rosh ~on extended semihiatus~ (roshreviews) | 302 comments Hi Donna,
if you have downloaded the audiobook to your device, you can replay it as many times as you want. But if you were listening to it only by streaming, then you won't have access to it once the archive date is gone by.
That said, the NG Shelf app has been problematic since yesterday for downloads. So your issue might be related to that as well. They had put up a message on the Dashboard page that they are working on it. I am not sure if it has been fixed yet but I can't find that announcement anymore.

Thank you, Rosh, and you must be right, since I did download it. I was trying to rewind it and play an earlier part using the Shelf app, and that, it appears, is a fool's errand. That is, unless it's a snafu being worked out as we speak, as you suggest.

Rosh ~on extended semihiatus~ (roshreviews) | 302 comments One more thing to check, actually. When you say you are rewinding the audio, are you beginning from the last chapter? Because there's a bug in the Shelf app: it rewinds only till the start of that specific chapter. If you need to go earlier, better to navigate through the table of contents and try. Maybe this will work.

Fictionophile (fictionophile) | 97 comments I am now listening to my first audiobook from NetGalley. I downloaded it to my NetGalley Shelf app.
HOW LONG do I have to listen to it?
I couldn't see any time limit when downloading.

There's no time limit to audiobooks as long as you have downloaded them to your phone. If you are streaming, then the book disappears on archive date. Make sure the book shows up n your "My Books" list - that's the best way of checking if the download is properly done.
