Also pretty good are:

The Mayfair Witches series (Anne Rice)
Wideacre (Philippa Gregory)
Inheritance (Christopher Paolini) (not sure if it was listed yet :) )
Sookie Stackhouse (Charlaine Harris)
Luxe (Anna Godbersen)
A Modern Faerie Tale (Holly Black) (I'm pretty sure there's three)
Mortal Instruments (Cassandra Clare)

I heard that Clare's next one might be a before story. I'm hearing about clary's mother's story somrthing like that. I REALLY loved that series had a bit of everything in it. I know you would dig it Jo!! As well as anyone that likes good YA paranormal adventure.

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments ~♡Katie♡~ wrote: "i think it will be classed as book 4 of the mortal instruments and i for one cant wait that long for the book i miss the characters so much i will be reading this series again as soon as i have fin..."

Sorry Katie here I go again. There are three books in the immortal instruments series "City of bones, ash and glass. I love "Blue Blood" series ready for the fourth one that just came out. The HON series is good for a quick read but lacking something, haven't put my finger on that but I still have read them all anyways! Once I start a series I just got to know how it's gonna end!!
I really want to check out some Kelly Armstrong and Patricia Briggs series. There are so many to choose from this well be fun!

message 7: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) I second Dresden Files. Been meaning to read it for some time.

message 8: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments Yeah moon called us the only one I know about unless there is another IDK the Kelley Armstrong darkest power or the women of the otherword would be happy either way!

message 9: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Ditto with the Dresden Files. I think I've read the first two & then got side tracked. I've read all the others that I listed, but the Sookie Stackhouse books would be fun to re-read. They're candy books; quick & fun, but they just don't stick with me.

With Patricia Briggs, we'd need to be careful, I believe. You start with the Mercy Thompson series, Moon Called is book 1, read "Blood Bound" & "Iron Kissed" but then the Alpha & Omega spinoff series starts with Cry Wolf. I don't recall if there are spoilers for the Mercy series in "Cry Wolf" & don't know the order the latest books in both series should be read in. I haven't gotten them yet.

Oh, did we mention Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series? That one is a favorite of both my daughter & I.

message 10: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments Who writes the morganville vamp series? Is it this Kim Harrison Jim mentioned?

message 11: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 23, 2009 09:02AM) (new)

I've been wanting to re-read Harry Potter so I will nominate that series. Also I would like to nominate Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead and The Blackdagger Brotherhood by JR Ward (this one is Paranormal Romance so a lot of people may not be into it, but it's really good).

message 12: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I have the first Vampire Academy in my to-read pile - somewhere. It's gotten so big, I'm getting a bit scared of it. (Help! It's going to eat me!)

I read the first of the Morganville Vampire books - Glass House (?), I think. It was definitely YA & didn't thrill me. I hated the end. A real cliff hanger with way too much going on.

message 13: by DJ (new)

DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments THE MAYFAIR WITCHES-ANNE RICE,They are a little piece of heaven, and I haven`t read them for ages!!!!
If it`s Not picked I will need to go off and reread them....I hated when I finished it as I felt like I had left a little piece of my soul behind in the books!

message 14: by Shanna (new)

Shanna | 7 comments Maximum ride by James Patterson
Stray by Rachel Vincent
Vampire kisses by Vampire Kisses
The A-List by Zoey Dean
The Sisterhood of the traveling pants by Ann Brashares

message 15: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments Oh wow Katie you got your homework done there!! Woo hoo! Sounds fabulous 5 months to go count down! Where did you ever find this all out?

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ รђ๏รђคภคђ (shoey924) | 53 comments I definitely second (third) the motion for Anne Rice, Either the Mayfair witches or the Vampire Chronicles, I'm due for a re-read of both series!
HON series, even though they annoy the living bejeezus out of me! LOL! I have to finish what I start.
Vampire Diaries, it's waiting for me. :-)
Vampire Academy
Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices-without a DOUBT!!
Kelley Armstrong's series'-I'm eagerly awaiting the 3rd installment following the Awakening, It's called the Reckoning. I also would like to get into the Women of the Underworld series.
I am currently reading Lirael Daughter of the Clayr and it's the 2nd of a trilogy that is very good.
Sweep- I'm on the third book and I think there is like 17! They aren't long books, though so it's a quick read.

The Luxe series is really good.

Blue Bloods

ok, I can't think of any more!

message 17: by Annemarie (new)

Annemarie Carlson (annielawlz) | 2 comments Ummm all I can think of is the Keys to the Kingdom series, that was really good.

message 18: by DJ (new)

DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments If we can't have
THE MAYFAIR WITCHES
My second choice would be
THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES
Also by Anne Rice...

message 19: by Amber (new)

Amber I would have to go with Jim for
Dresden Files - Jim Butcher
Sookie Stackhouse - Charlaine Harris
Aurora Teagarden Mysteries - Charlaine Harris

Thanks!

message 20: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments Oh Katie I can't believe I overlooked the year for infernal devices that is a seriously long wait!!! Thanks for the website post. The Luxe series was a good one for anyone likeing historical fiction series. I have heard of so many new series on this link I have to check into. What are the dresden series about is it science fiction or paranormal?

message 21: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I just started the first Vampire Academy book. I want to slap the copy editor, but the story is pretty good. Very interesting world. I have a feeling that the second book will be better because a lot of the first one is taken up with explaining the world.

Jessica~CoinOperatedJoy | 319 comments Jo wrote: "Lol yeah it the poll was a while back. I set up a thread for the first Sookie book."

No worries! My series won out and I have thankfully finished the first! So hurrah!

Jessica~CoinOperatedJoy | 319 comments Jo wrote: "Lol cool :) did you join the conversation?"

Not yet but only because I am playing catch up with Graceling. I started Graveyard book today during lunch but tonight I am starting Graceling. So, now, instead of involving in the convo, which will take a lot of time because I LOVED it, I want to catch up on my reading. I will probably jump in on Friday. That's a great catch up day for me since that's when boss is out of the office playing golf.

Jessica~CoinOperatedJoy | 319 comments Jo wrote: "Lol cool. I will be reading Graceling soon. I wasn't going to get it because it was expensive but i managed to swap it so im happy. I think my boss should play golf on fridays! "

I think everyone's boss should play golf on Fridays. lol.

Also who the heck plays golf in a Gale fit for Dorothy to get back to Kansas in and we are suffering Torrential Rain!!!

message 43: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) That sucks, DJ. I worked for my step father for 6 years & put up with a lot of the same stuff. I had my revenge, though. When I left, he basically went out of business. Nothing bad I did or said, I just wasn't there any more & he couldn't handle the load.

That's too bad! Why can't your hubby put his foot down and tell his father that he's got plans? Surely he wouldn't mind?
