Two Books with the Same Title

This is a combined posting for prompts #37 and #38!

There was a similar prompt for a different challenge in the past-three books with the same title and I used Beach House:
The Beach House by Mary Alice Monroe
Loved this and now own all the other installments in this series to read!
The Beach House by Jane Green
A beautifully poignant book!
The Beach House by James Patterson and Peter de Jonge
Definitely my least favorite of the three!

Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Listopia to help:
Seeing Double: Same Title, Different Books by Different Authors
(Thank you, Mitchell!)

Listopia is HERE

Chelsea (chelseanotchels) | 54 comments I saw this and IMMEDIATELY thought, "I bet there's a bunch of hockey romances with the same title." And lo, I decided to read Face Off and Face Off. I bet there's more than that, too; hockey romances love a punny title, and there are only so many to go around.

Dead Silence has bunch of twin-named books too.

message 3: by SarahKat (new)

SarahKat | 171 comments Last time this prompt came around I read
Ink and Bone and Ink and Bone. Both were good.

This time, I have 3 books on my TBR called Cursed, Cursed, Cursed

Also have Eve and Eve

Jen W. (piratenami) | 496 comments Some ideas here:

There are also apparently a gazillion books with the title "It Had to Be You" - I had heard of one of the romance novel ones, but wow...
/search?q=It...

If I can't find anything else, I'll probably go the Ink and Bone route.

message 5: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1225 comments Last time I read Ink and Bone as well and enjoyed the books I read. I don’t know what I’ll do next year yet.

message 7: by Grace (new)

Grace (gracieleeh) | 22 comments I'm planning on Stephen King's The Outsider and H.P. Lovecraft's The Outsider.

message 8: by Laura Ruth (new)

Laura Ruth Loomis | 203 comments The latest Stephanie Plum mystery is Now or Never. Amazon has at least a dozen romances with that title, plus a climate change book.

The original Swedish title of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo translated as "Men Who Hate Women." So I'd argue it can pair with Men Who Hate Women, Laura Bates's foray into the manosphere.

message 9: by Dubhease (new)

Dubhease | 598 comments Last time I read The Lying Game and The Lying Game and then I ended up reading a 6 book series.

I might do Invisible Man and The Invisible Man

message 10: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 109 comments I’m thinking about The Idiot by Elif Batuman and The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

message 12: by Michele (new)

Michele Olson | 99 comments I agree with Jennifer, but I'm thinking of Motherland and Mother Land, so it's a space instead of a hyphen.

message 14: by LeahS (last edited Dec 04, 2024 12:42AM) (new)

LeahS | 473 comments The Trees and The Trees. When this prompt came up a few years ago, I read The Hired Man and The Hired Man.

message 15: by Kaia (new)

Kaia | 235 comments If you're willing to count homophones, there's Sense and Sensibility and Scents and Sensibility by Spencer Quinn. I think Quinn's Chet series has some other punny takes on classic novels that might fit.

message 16: by Amy (new)

Amy (amymarkscouk) | 39 comments I think I'm going to read The Sentence and The Sentence. VERY intrigued by the sound of the first and I enjoyed another of the second author's books, so happy to give that one a go.

But I do really like the sound of both of the Ink and Bones!

message 17: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 230 comments I loved the Ink and Bone combo last time.

A great combo that unfortunately I've already read is Night Watch by Terry Pratchett and Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko. Both urban police mystery books with magical creatures. Wildly different vibes.

message 18: by Agatha (new)

Agatha Donkar Lund (brandnewkindof) | 11 comments A good push for me to finally read Great Expectations!

message 19: by Joanna (new)

Joanna | 152 comments I've been wanting to do a "Name's the Same" book display for ages, so here are a few titles I've collected:
Shiver, Shiver, Shiver, Shiver
Red Queen, The Red Queen
The Midnight Library, The Midnight Library
City of Bones, City of Bones
Hush, Hush, Hush, The Hush
Hush, Hush, Hush Hush, Hush-Hush, Hush Hush
Shoe Dog, Shoe Dog
Heat, Heat, Heat
Heat Wave, Heat Wave, Heat Wave
Elsewhere, Elsewhere
Far Far Away, Far Far Away
The Night Gardener, The Night Gardener, The Night Gardener
The Six, The Six

Some of those titles have more books, but this is just based on my library's collection.

message 20: by Tania (new)

Tania | 678 comments I already have Say Her Name by Dreda Say Mitchell on my TBR, so I think I will also pick up Say Her Name by Juno Dawson or Say Her Name by Zetta Elliott to match it.

message 21: by Deb (new)

Deb | 51 comments I haven't picked books yet but I have come across:

Emma and Emma
Happiness for Beginners and Happiness for Beginners
Twilight and Twilight

message 22: by Ally (new)

Ally (allybl) | 47 comments I've found five books with the title Elsewhere!
by Alexis Schaitkin
by Dean Koontz
by Gabrielle Zevin (apparently named a Time Magazine Best YA book of ALL time?)
by Richard Russon
by Yan Ge

You can add three more to your list for Elsewhere
one by Alexis Schaitkin, one by Yan Ge, and one by Richard Russo.

message 24: by Cathern (new)

Cathern (cat4280) | 26 comments Would Daydream and The Daydreams be able to count for this category?

message 25: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer T. (jent998) | 230 comments I just stumbled on this set if you like horror:

Katy M | 940 comments Cathern wrote: "Would Daydream and The Daydreams be able to count for this category?"

I think so. I suppose a purist may not. The last time they had this category, I read Invisible Man and The Invisible Man. No idea what I'm going to do this year.

message 27: by Claire (new)

Claire | 42 comments I got super lucky this year. I am trying to read only from my TBR where possible and somehow I have The Lying Game and The Lying Game both on my list.

message 28: by Elsa (new)

Elsa | 46 comments Just discovered Along for the Ride (which I read in high school and of course loved) and Along for the Ride which looks like a fun romcom!

message 29: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 387 comments Last time I enjoyed Once Upon a River and Once Upon a River.

message 30: by Nadine in NY (new)

Nadine in NY Jones | 9546 comments Mod
I've been stumbling upon quite a few recently!

There are many books with the titles:
All Through the Night (this is probably going to be my choice)
Swept Away
Begin Again
At Risk
The Art of Scandal
The Favorite/The Favorites
Son of the Morning

and (already mentioned)
Ink and Bone
City of Bones

message 31: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 32 comments I came across this list on listchallenges that has books with the same title:

I think I'm going to use March and March: Book One for this prompt.

message 32: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (c-squared) | 14 comments The Husbands by Chandler Baker was already on my TBR (recommended by a RL/GR friend) and The Husbands by Holly Gramazio has a very interesting premise.

message 33: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (c-squared) | 14 comments Chrissy wrote: "Last time I enjoyed Once Upon a River and Once Upon a River."

I really enjoyed both of those, too.

message 34: by Rose (new)

Rose W | 116 comments Catherine wrote: "The Husbands by Chandler Baker was already on my TBR (recommended by a RL/GR friend) and The Husbands by Holly Gramazio has a very interesting premise."
This is what I am doing!

message 35: by Bea (new)

Bea | 608 comments Wow! If I find it hard to tackle my two (books I own both over 500 pages, I will have a wealth of info here to pick a replacement set.

Interestingly, both of mine are 519 pages! Shaman and Shaman

message 37: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 696 comments There are some franchise books that I could reread for this prompt:

Fear Itself (Marvel comics event and Star Trek: Discovery novel)
Treason (Star Wars: Thrawn novel and Star Trek: New Frontier novel)
Grand Designs (Star Trek: SCE collection and X-Men comic series)

If anyone has some great picks with those same titles, please let me know.

*Remember Me by Estelle Laure

*Family Tree by Susan Wiggs
*Family Tree by Barbara Delinsky

I will be reading:

*War Brides by Helen Bryan

HAPPY READING!!

Alex (Pucksandpaperbacks) (pucksandpaperbacks) | 4 comments I'm using The Cartographers!

The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd
The Cartographers by Amy Zhang

message 40: by Denise (new)

Denise | 301 comments I’m going to read:
Sandwich
Sandwich: A Global History

Ignoring the subtitle of course

message 41: by GailW (new)

GailW (abbygg) Agatha Christie's Mrs. McGinty's Dead was also published as Blood Will Tell. (Explanation here: /book/show/3...) I plan to match that up with Blood Will Tell by Jeanne M. Dams

message 42: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 696 comments Gail W wrote: "Agatha Christie's Mrs. McGinty's Dead was also published as Blood Will Tell. (Explanation here: /book/show/3...) I plan ..."

If you need a backup with that same title, that was also the title of a Star Trek comic miniseries featuring the Klingons.

message 43: by Darci (new)

Darci Day | 164 comments I'm going to go with:

Life After Life
Life After Life

I actually bought the one by Atkinson, thinking it was the one by McCorkle, lol.

message 44: by Heather (new)

Heather (hpduck) | 12 comments Shelley wrote: "I loved the Ink and Bone combo last time.

You could always read Night Watch by Jayne Anne Phillips OR The Night Watch by Sarah Waters OR Night Watch by Iris Johansen if you are inclined to continue your night watch trend.

Thank you for bringing this one up! I'm definitely going to read 2 of these 5 :)

message 45: by Diana (last edited Jan 06, 2025 03:04PM) (new)

Diana (candystripelegs) | 241 comments I guess this is the year I finally get around to reading:
Mirror, Mirror by Jen Calonita and Mirror Mirror by Cara Delevingne or maybe Mirror Mirror by Gregory Maguire

message 46: by Sasha (new)

Sasha Wolf | 104 comments I'm interested in labour movement history, so I'm going to read Bread and Roses: Gender and Class Under Capitalism and Bread and Roses, an Anthology of Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century Poetry by Women Writers. There are several other titles that are either the same or variations on the theme, including a cookbook!

message 47: by As You Wish (new)

As You Wish | 27 comments I have had Light Years waiting on my tbr for a while, and found
Light Years: Memoir of a Modern Lighthouse Keeper at the library, so that's what I'm planning. It was hard to find a second book that I was also interested in; I surprised myself by having no duplicate titles on the tbr going into this.

message 48: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 1775 comments Not even looking for something for this prompt, I found Never Saw Me Coming: How I Outsmarted the FBI and the Entire Banking System—and Pocketed $40 Million and I already had Never Saw Me Coming on my TBR.

message 49: by Ron (new)

Ron | 2650 comments I need to rethink this prompt. Just realized I read Interstellar: The Search for Extraterrestrial Life and Our Future in the Stars in 2024 and I don't feel like doing a re-read of it so soon.

I'll try to come up with others, hopefully either a nonfiction/fiction pairing or something else entirely.

message 50: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 117 comments I'm reading Cat Among the Pigeons and Cat Among the Pigeons for this one.
