PattyMacDotComma | 582 comments Donne wrote: "I LOVE BUNNY MCGARRY!!! If you don't find Bunny and his motley crew of friends and misfits hilarious, then you are probably having a really bad day or you simply have no sense of humor. I dare you ..."

I'm with Donne on this series.

I was recently tickled to discover how entertaining A Man With One of Those Faces is. It's the first book in Caimh McDonnell's Dublin Trilogy, which is now 8 books long! I'd heard it was fun, but I'd feared it was just hype.

Alice | 108 comments I finished The Stolen Queen The Stolen Queen by Fiona Davis by Fiona Davis. Duel time set in 1936 Egypt and 1978 New York. I have liked other of her books better. I think this one was a bit predictable. Lots of Egyptian history.

PattyMacDotComma | 582 comments Kate Atkinson is a favourite author and I love her Jackson Brodie series. In the latest, Death at the Sign of the Rook, I was surprised the focus was mainly on the strange, gathered assemblage, with much less on Jackson and Reggie (yes, she's back!) whom I really wanted to read about.
Death at the Sign of the Rook (Jackson Brodie, #6) by Kate Atkinson My review of Death at the Sign of the Rook

PattyMacDotComma | 582 comments I was caught offguard by this surprising little short story, The Curfew Tolls by Stephen Vincent Benét. It's available free online, and I've included the link in my review. It's a quick read - give it a go. 😊

PattyMacDotComma | 582 comments Regency England is often depicted as romantically glamorous, but Viscount Sebastian St Cyr's investigation of shadowy murders and his wife Hero's research into the abject poverty of the time, show a very different picture. C.S. Harris writes THE best historical mysteries. Who Speaks for the Damned is terrific.
Who Speaks for the Damned (Sebastian St. Cyr, #15) by C.S. Harris My review of Who Speaks for the Damned
