I think you're going to like this one, I really enjoyed it. Sadly, I cannot use any book in this series unless I go with reread ;)

Shelf: V
Book: The Study of Fire
Date Read: 3/14
Rating: 5 stars
How it fits: Main Character Valek
Review: I am loving these books from Valek's POV. Especially since he is missing so much from Yelana's books that we get a whole new story/action for each one. I hope Snyder continues them. He shows up in Opal's books, so we could hope for 6 more Valek books!

My library was a little slow getting a copy of the new one. So I can use this one, but only this one. I do try not to use my one re-read for Bingo. That way I have it at the end if I really need it!

I totally understand the issue with re-reads ;)

Shelf: B - Boyfriend
Book: Bonded in Death
Date Read: 3/17
Rating: 4 stars
How it works: Roarke
Review: We're 60 books in at this point. So we could play a drinking game for every time Peabody clumps in her pink cowboy boots. And every time McNab sways at his computer. And every time Jenkinson's tie shows up. Although I just realized the socks didn't show up in this one. Is it formulaic? Yes. Does the formula still work? Also, yes! Because of Eve, Roarke, and the Marriage Rules. Which have expanded to also include Friendship Rules. They mysteries continue to keep me guessing just enough. And Eve and Roarke bring me back every time.

Requirement: Choose a book using one of the following options ...

I always start out a little behind. Then as I catch up I'm better able to work with my other challenges. I'm not sure why it's always the first few that get me here. :)

This is a very nice book about growth, find the strength to be really yourself, friendship and love. It doesn't matter that characters are elves, dwarves, dragons or gargoyles, the theme is clear behind, and it's a really sweet book, like Dolly (I love the detail about the booth where a fairy paint magically nails).

I won't go too much into this as I know there are people who are reading this series and I don't want them to happen upon this and get spoiled. The initial feedback I had from others is that they were very confused at the beginning of the book because they didn't recognize anyone's names, but I think that comes a gap in reading the previous book and then this one. I reread the first two before getting to this one and I had no trouble getting right into it. There's much more history involved in this book than previous ones. I found Violet to be less annoying here than in the previous book. The ending is a doozy! I mean, I don't know how Yarros can really leave us like this. So many questions and no answers. I will be continuing the series, but I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous ones.

I did a re-read right before it came out and I still didn't recognize anyone's name. It might be because I was listening. Or it might be that Yarros threw a bunch of new people in there.

This Is How You Lose the Time War - shelved Owned by 2001 people.
Desperate Duchesses - Shelved Owned by 48 people

No doubt there were new people, but I didn't feel like I was thrown off too much. Or maybe because of what others were saying I expected it so I already knew there would be new names and people.

Thanks Sarah, I figured as much :)

I've enjoyed the book a lot although it's a bit slow at the beginning, showing the remorse of the pod of hammerheads we knew at the "Gift of the Ancient" series, but after that introudction we have a nice love story, with characters that are kind and relatable... and an end that opens another thread to the last battle with Elspeth (and a book about a character hopefully).

It looks like it's still on her Currently Reading shelf.

No no I was still reading it.
I just finished it today and will come back later to update with a review and everything.

Review:
This is the third book in the Artefacts of Ouranos series so I won't give too much away. So as far as plot movement there really wasn't that much in terms of reaching their goal for this book quickly. It will take time, however the book itself is so compelling that it really doesn't feel like it takes that long. We do jump a few different POV's but it doesn't feel jarring or unnecessary. While our main characters are doing their thing, we also get more history of Ouranos as a country/world. We get more depth in their mythology and how exactly everything has really culminated into what is happening. There was no avoiding this for our main characters, they're exactly where they need to be. The ending is explosive, quite literally and figuratively. The last twenty pages are very intense and it for sure leaves you on a cliffhanger. I'm very fortunate that I got into this series when it was completed and that the next book fits for the current shelf call as it's a finale to a series.

No no I was still reading it.
I just finished it today and will come back later..."
Thank you, I asked because it wouldn't be the first time I skip one review :(

I don't know how I had missed this book. I liked a lot the other books in the series and this is not different. It's sad to see a series end, although the epilogue works fine closing it. I've enjoyed the story, and how powerful women have been (even Kerry). Although Daniel is a bit too much strong-headed, it's not so much that you wisk to slap him. I've thoroughly enjoyed the book, really, and missing books by this author.

My library is taking forever on This is How You Lose the Time War. And after I finished Desperate Duchesses I had no desire to write a review for it. I hated every character in that book! So I read something else. :)

Book: Two Twisted Crowns
Date Read: 3/26
Rating: 4.5 stars (rounded up)
How it fits: It is the conclusion of the "series". But if a duology is questionable as a series, it is also shelved "owned" by 1,053 people.
Review: I really enjoyed this one. I didn't love it quite as much as the first one. I thought the resolution was a bit rushed. I think I would have enjoyed having the story stretched out into a third book. But overall it was a good read.

Sorry you feel so bad about a book, that's a nasty situation.

Shelf: G
Book: Beyond the Horizon
Date Read: 3/29

How it works: female author
Review: I ignored the warning at the beginning. I wanted an age gap romance and I love this author. So I ignored the warning that while it is a standalone, it does have spoilers for at least one of her other series. I did enjoy the book. But the other series is messed up for me, for sure. Anyway, the book was good, but the MMC was pretty awful to her for about half of the book, and I didn't feel like he did enough to make up for it. So not 5 stars.

Shelf 5: G - Galentine / guilty pleasure
Book: The Pocket Dragon by Tesha Geddes

How it fits: The author is a woman

I've loved this book, really. Totally fantasy (cute little purple dragon) with some romantic touches, and very, very nice and lovely. The growth story and finding acceptance in a new environment are very, very beautiful. I'm going to purchase the other 2 books now.
