Been nearly 9 years since I read the 1st book of the series; I'd bought the 2nd one back then too, but it somehow got lost in all the bright & shiny. This one happens about 12 months after the first book.
Caith was still the same, but probably more .... angry, sad, brokenhearted & really bored.
Strange things are happening in Orlando, Caith had claimed the town, her Uncle is Lucifer, she has 5 dads, and was conceived in a petrie dish.
Turns out Caith had cast out all the demons from Orlando, and now there is a drug, affecting both humans & the other folk (like trolls, goblins, fauns etc). Many people are affected, some are really sick, some are violent and Caith must investigate. Sam, the fallen angel is there to help.
Lots of fighting, the big bad, angry mom, zombies, innocent but drugged humans, including kids .....

I think I did the same, read the first book and the second has been on deck waiting to be read, for years. :)

Which is not like Celia Kyle at all. I'm not going to bother with the other books, though the latest book was written last yr. So maybe she's improved?

The final book in the Lost Night Files trilogy and Amelia gets her HEA with Gideon Sweetwater.
Three women, including Amelia, get invitations to attend a job interview at a soon to be refurbished hotel. Instead they wake up with amnesia and strapped to gurneys, to an earthquake & a fire. They have no idea what's happened but they have suspicions. They create a podcast to help them find the answers.
Gideon is a PI, and takes Amelias' case as she fears she has a stalker. Its worse than she thought.
Lots of action, betrayal, and both their paranormal senses get a workout in solving the case.
JAK is definitely one of my comfort reads, everything always makes sense and the flow is excellent.

Review: This is the first book in a new series by one of my fav authors, KMM. It seems like it's been awhile since we have had anything new from KMM, so I was excited for this first book in a new series about witches in Louisiana. Zo Grey is a powerful witch but does not quite know about her powers, until after her mother's death. She discovers that she has a large inheritance from an unknown relative that includes a large gothic mansion in Louisiana. Of course this comes with lots of strings and more mystery... The good: it's a good mystery, lots of unknowns that are slowly unveiled and a few possible love interests. The not so good: the story drags a bit and the mystery seems drug out a bit with a little too much inner dialog going on in her head. Then a lot happens at the end and we get a bit of a cliff hanger. Listened to this in audio, and the narration was good. I will be hanging in with this series...

Review: This is the first book in Patricia Briggs' Raven series. Told in multiple parts. First is the initial meeting... Tier is a returning soldier that discovers Seraph as she is being auctioned off in a tavern to pay for the debt owed for her and her slain brother's stay. Seraph is a very young Raven mage and one of the last survivors of a Travelers sect. Travelers are born with magic and are defined by the powers they possess. Tier buys her and takes her to his home lands but rejects his role as baker and the business upon his return to be with Seraph.Â
Second part... Flash forward many years, Tier & Seraph are married, farmers with 3 children. Even though Tier is not a Traveler, he has magic of a bard / Owl and all of their children each have a magical gift. Eagle / guardian shifter, Falcon / hunter tracker, and the youngest one has powers too.Â
Third part... When Tier doesn't return and is feared dead, Seraph and their two oldest children embark on a journey to a city that has been taken by evil wizards who steal magical powers upon their death. They have to have a battle of good vs evil. Â
The good: interesting story, very much in the true Fantasy genre. The not so good: Fantasy genre isn't really my jam. The first book world building had A LOT of details to unpack and the info dump was a bit overwhelming for me at times. I appreciate the creativity that authors have to make Fantasy series, but some ease and weave it into the storyline and others unload and it takes a bit more time to digest.Â
This book was one of PB's earlier works, first published in 2004. Recently added the audio version so this is why I snagged it. Long time Mercy and Alpha & Omega fan, so I may continue, but definitely not racing out to devour this series at this time. :)

Jacky is recovering from the previous incidents when 2 humans arrive at her bar, Kick Shot, telling her the family sent them to work at the bar.
She's all set to tell them to go home, when she finds out their stories and realises they need to be exactly where they are.
Then various werecats start invading her territory for short bursts. Jacky has no clue what is going on, and the family doesn't know either.
Turns out its all part of a sinister plot to overthrow the family, in particular, Hasan, the father, the Tribunal elder.
This series just gets better and better.

Review:I really enjoyed this book. It's not part of the main series, but side story full fo romance. Its about Lilith, who is a scientist and she is trying to find a cure to a disease, that a God has curst them (later it comes out its not curse at all). It takes her to a vampire named Vale and they make a deal. She brings him six roses for his blood to use in her cure. And of course they fall in love :)

I'll finish the shelf 1 book this week :) sorry for being slow. Last week I went back to work after surgery and it was a lot, but now I have lived in and feel more myself.

Review: Another great book from the series and I love reading Anita's adventures. This book was little bit predictable, because I guessed who the bad guy was, but not all of it. There was still a twist I didn't see coming. In this book someone took a hit out on Anita and she is bonded to both her boyfriends, but in the end I guess one of them is not anymore. It was very action packed book as I expected and I'm eager to read the next on in the series :)
