I liked seeing the story from Dani Omalley's eyes. She is one of my favorite characters in the series. I didn't like how all these men were waiting for her to grow up to get with her since she is only 14. I do plan to continue and can't wait to see from Mac's POV again.

Review: The story revolves around Emma and the two loves of her life. Both boys she knew in high school. Sam becomes a friend when she makes a connection with Jesse, the boy she has a crush on. Jesse and Emma have 10 years together before Jesse is lost at sea when the helicopter he is on goes down. Sam and Emma reconnect and become engaged just as Jesse is found after 4 years. This was a very angsty story but not very realistic. Everything comes together with minimal problems. I thought Jesse should have had more psychological and physical problems recovering from his ordeal. Though Emma’s grieving process and adjustment seemed appropriate and her choices between the two men were believable, Jesse’s recovery was too quick and smooth.

The Hero She Loves by Anna Hackett

Review:
The Hero She Loves is the first book in a series of Unbroken Heroes. Jenna Sheriden is a US Marshal whose career hinges on her ability to capture a murderer who is thought to be a former Ghost Operative in the wilderness of Alaska. She is determined to end his murder spree and bring him in custody. She also knows she needs the help of someone with the same training who is rumored to live in the same area. Parker Conroy moved to Alaska to be alone. He has no desire to associate with anyone. When Jenna shows up on his property asking for his assistance, he initially rejects her request. After some contemplation he changes his mind, and this is the beginning of their relationship.
I enjoyed the book. It is action packed and held my interest. I will continue with the series.

Review: This is the final book of the Raven duology. I really liked the first volume, and this story continues right along after that, time wise. However, the overall feeling of this was pedestrian. There was plenty of action, lots of issues for each character to resolve, love interests to develop, bad guys doing bad things, kids growing into their powers and a satisfactory ending. But it still felt plodding. I was just glad when it ended.

Magic Tides & Magic Claims by Ilona Andrews
Date Read: 3/29/2025
Rating: ✮✮✮✮
Review:
Magic Tides/Magic Claims by Ilona Andrew is two short stories in the world of Kate Daniels. In Magic Tides Kate, Curran and Conlan have just moved to a new town. They were spending their days remodeling a home and focusing on everyday problems like Conlan’s new school admission. This doesn’t last long after Conlan manipulates Kate into retrieving his friends kidnapped brother. This story’s focus is on Kate’s adventure along the way of the rescue ending in a battle which was at their new doorstep. Magic Claims takes place a few weeks later. Word had spread and human visitors came to call. They presented something Curran wanted in exchange for clearing the forest of something magic and evil. Kate couldn’t let the people of the town die, so she was in as well. Mystery, danger, magical creatures, fierce fighting are all included in the adventure. New friends were made, old friendships renewed, new enemies defeated, and a new life is to be forged for Kate, Curran, and Conlin.
I remain a Kate Daniels fan.

Review:
Tessa Dare brings the characters to life in the Duchess Deal. Emma Gladstone is a seamstress in a reputable London dressmaker’s shop. She is more than just a seamstress. She is a vicar’s daughter, well educated, witty, kind, and self-possessed. Emma has worked the entire last month sewing a wedding dress for the Duke of Ashbury’s finance. With the engagement/wedding canceled no one has come for the dress, but Emma is determined to get her pay. This urgent need leads her right into the Dukes line of sight.
I enjoyed this story. There were many laugh out loud moments and I will continue the series.

Review: Set in 1764, American, Samuel Hartley, is in London for business and to hunt for a traitor. He has brought his young sister, Rebecca, along at her wish. Then at a party where he is gathering evidence he meets Lady Emmeline Gordon, who has a reputation for bringing young ladies out. He convinces her to take on his sister. While he is single-mindedly hunting the traitor he is also being lured to Emmeline.
Plot and romance set up was good until he becomes overly aggressive, and she plays cat and mouse with him. Her reason for pushing him away seems silly and he can be a brute and at every turn is ready to use his fists. The best part of the book was the interaction between Rebecca and O’Hare, the footman.

Tomorrow is a new shelf and she hasn't selected for #5 yet and #3 and #4 are not completed. I don't know how strict the mods will be on the 3 book rule. She sounded like she was close on one of the books last week. Let's hope she pops in soon.

Earth's continued existence rides on Decibel Jones and the absolute Zeros performance in the MetaGalactic Grand Prix. I couldn't connect to the characters and really didn't like them. I thought the story would be more about the Eurovision like competition but was only a few chapters of it. This story was just so different than I expected. I definitely won't be continuing.

Read: 4/4/25
Review: As with the earlier volumes in this series the bride in this story has been at the point of destitution making the case for submitting to a dragon shifter hunt as a means of husband mating more agreeable. The hunt has many rules to protect the females. Thunder, Air King and the loser in some previous hunts has caught up to Tamara and they are negotiating their commitment when another dragon shifter breaks the rules by hunting in dragon form and kidnapping Tamara. Cloud is a little bit unstable and been under watch within the Air dragon kingdom. Thunder pursues and is wounded reclaiming Tamara.
This is the first volume in the series to deal with not only issues between the main couple but with a second dragon being a threat to the whole process established for the Bride program. Though the plots are always weak in these stories, this was a little more complex. More than just sex.

Spiral of Need by Suzanne Wright
Rating: ✮✮✮✮
Date Read: 4/9/2025
Review:
Spiral of Need by Suzanne Wright takes place in the world of wolf shifters. Derren Hudson is the chief enforcer for the Mercury pack. He earned that position as he dedicated his life to protecting Nick, his alpha, even before the Mercury pack was formed.
Ally is in a different pack and she is in trouble of the worst kind. She is accused of attempting to kill her beta female which is a capitol offense. Ally is more than just a shifter. She is also a seer, but even this ability can’t get her out of trouble.
There are a list of reasons these two can't be a couple. Derren hates seers, he is grouchy and has no interest in any commitment except the one he has for his alpha. Ally just came out of a relationship and it had a bad ending. With Derren's persistence she gives in to just once, and so it begins.
This is an action-packed shifter romance with some humor as well. Even though the story focus is on Derren and Ally, there is integration into events of the shifter world they live in. For me this is a series that will make my reread list.

Review: Croft Falconer shows up at Mercy Pennington's book store to view and purchase an 18th century book of erotica only to find it has already been sold. Mercy is to deliver it to its new owner. Croft wants to go along. The book was supposed to have burned in a fire that also took the life of its owner who was a criminal Croft had tracked 3 years earlier. He and Mercy have a developing relationship that is often strained by the secrets in Crofts past and Mercy's fear that she is being used as a means to get to Croft's target.
I read this book 35 years ago and loved the dynamics between the pair and the suspense of the plot. Though the style is classic Krentz it is a bit out of vogue. But I still enjoyed it very much.

Kyle finds out her grandmother has died and decides now is the time to learn more about her mother's and grandmother's relationship. I enjoyed reading about New Orleans and the tours Melinda gave also loved her joy in living there. It was nice reading about Melinda and Kyle growing closer. Overall I liked the book and will be continuing.
