Starting this now! I’ve read the prologue and it kinda has the same vibe as The Undertaking of Hart of Mercy

So the same thing happened to me except it was my audiobook for an hour long car ride so now I'm continuing half assedly listening because I got so far. If anyone loves this book don't read comments because I'm spite listening 😂

It gets mildly better 😂 but yes the narrator is terrible. I was never going to love this because so many of the jokes make me cringe instead of laugh but maybe it would have been slightly better if I read it.

Okay, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this. I didn't even read the summary and I was not prepared. If I hadn't been on a long drive such that I couldn't change what I was listening to, I would have dnf'd within the first couple chapters. The whole time I was driving I was thinking this is so stupid and how did this get published. The premise is so thin and silly and the characters are so flat. (hide spoiler)]

Okay so this is still stupid but it's kind of growing on me. I still think it's like this is terrible but it's crossed into entertaining terrible and no longer cringe terrible. I'm not really following the plot. I don't really care what's with her stupid feud with Becky. Evie is such a disaster, I don't really understand how she's supposed to be likeable because she's so ridiculous but this clearly isn't my type of humor. The villain is so one note, none of these characters have any depth which isn't surprising given the beginning but still. I really don't understand how this got published. At least now it's entertaining stupid not this is horrible why am I doing this to myself. (hide spoiler)]

It has been interesting getting to know more about the villains family, but it's all just window dressing. Every event feels so random, and the way people react to things is so weird. Ok, so it wasn't only me then?! I got the impression it was supposed to be funny and cheeky maybe? It just wasn't working for me. When Kingsley, the frog wearing a crown, showed up I kind of checked out haha.
