What books are you looking forward to that have been or will be released in 2025?

Do you follow particular authors and watch for their new releases?

I don't follow authors but do have some books I would like to read that are being released this year, but so far haven't read any of them yet, even if they have already been released. That said, I do have on in my pile for this month that was released this year but only because I finally started the series this year even though the first two books came out in 2024. - because the cover and type of book fit a challenge and I just read two of them for thrillers last month.

What are the odds that I was the first to respond two weeks in a row? I'm guessing that it happened today because we're both on here later than usual :).

In addition there are a few authors which I follow and read when their books are released-

Who Will Remember - conclusion of Sebastian St Cyr mystery series, which has an overarching thread about his family as well as the various mysteries

Wild Dark Shore- (a rare preorder) - March - I read it right away. 4.5 stars

Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales- I had an early hold but I just couldn’t get into it.

I liked both his Foundryside and his Divine cities series, but I held off on this new one because I like to read finished series. The good reviews for The Tainted Cup will probably make me reconsider once I have book two in my hands

I don't have a site to check upcoming books, so I will come back to this topic, hoping to find out what is of interest to me, like the Guy Gavriel Kay and the Fredrik Backman titles I didn't know about

My Name Is Emilia del Valle by Isabel Allende - I am always interested in Allende's books.

* "Tough Love" by Sandra Dallas - It's a western and I'm on the lookout for good westerns.

Run for the Hills by Kevin Wilson - His books are unique as he sees things in a different way.

Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy - I'm on a long wait list at the library for this one. There have been many 5 star reviews for it.

The Homemade God by Rachel Joyce - I'm a Rachel Joyce fan.

I have so many favorite authors that I follow. I won't bore you with their names.

I don't have a particular book I'm waiting for... but I do follow Haruki Murakami for his releases. :)

There are a number of favorite authors whom I follow - sort of. For some I subscribe to their email newsletter. Others I get notices from the publisher, whose newsletters I also subscribe to. At least one I follow on facebook.

I have a fairly long list of favorite authors, and try to read their newest releases. Here are a few I've already read:

Universality - Natasha Brown
The Mighty Red - Louise Erdrich

I used to follow a lot of authors of all genres and immediately pick up their newest book, but stopped that some years ago when I wasn't able to keep up on the reading due to both work and many other interests. Now I might watch for and acquire one or two books a year as soon as they come out, but still don't get around to reading them all that quickly.

There are a couple of exceptions --- and they are authors where there is a wait, sometime long, sometimes eternal, before a new book comes out:

George RR Martin - A Song of Ice and Fire series - those get preordered (when there is an actual publication date) and read immediately.

Amor Towles

Rick Atkinson - his American Revolution series. Second in series is out soon.

Harry Potter series was probably the last one I literally plotted to and bought on publication day and immediately read. No preorder - going to the midnight sales.

I got on to almost 50 messages! I am going with:

Jackal's Mistress by Chris Bohjahlin.

I find out about new releases from GR, as well as from book newsletters, the NY Times Book Review, and the magazine Book Pages, which is free at the library. You can sign up for emails from GR based on genres you like, for instance Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Romance, etc.

I had my name down at the library for Wild Dark Shore before it came out and amazingly I got it the first week it was out. I think that if a particular branch happens to get it in, a person who reserved it at that branch gets it before someone who was ahead in the queue but is at a different branch.
