The 2015 Reading Challenge Second Read-a-Thon

This is the weekend after I finish summer classes. Seems like the perfect time to get some (fun) reading time in!

With as much as you read, I would LOVE to see your library at home!!!! have you decided what your main read for this read-a-thon is going to be? or are you going to wait until closer to the 11th?

Me too, it must be amazing and huge!

I'm going to be waiting to see where I'm at with my challenge by that point and then I'll decide which book to dedicate that day to once it gets nearer. Knowing me, I'll probably only make the final decision the day before!

Don't worry, I make all these elaborate plans of what I'm going to read and the snacks I'm going to have...and then the day of I'm like "hmm, that doesn't really sound good today..." and then spend like a few hours perusing my bookshelf -.-

I think I will be trying to tackle the LOTR trilogy, but that's a lot... And if I just don't like them, then I have a few books lined up: The Counte of Monte Cristo, Don Quixote, The Three Musketeers...
Of course, there will be a nice amount of YA thrown in there. For breaks and such.

YAY! I have a twitter too, mine is @latenight_queen, so I will definitely follow you, that name works for my instagram as well which I typically use more often.

you're name is so awesome I'm jelly.

Francesca yours is cool!

That is my hope here too. My hammock has been lonely with all of the rain we have been getting.

Mine can sometimes be hectic too Tanya, the last reading challenge I had to adjust the times and start Friday night and finish Saturday because I had plans that Saturday night.

I have tickets to see Idina Menzel earlier that week and Dave Matthews the night of the read-a-thon. Seems to me I spend most of my hard-earned money on travel and concert tix...but, it is so worth it to spend time with some great friends in far-away places that I don't get to see but once or twice a year!

Most of the time I have nothing to do but I'm quite bad at getting distracted by TV shows and movies anyway, but this year I've been adamant about getting on with my reading and suddenly everyone's actually inviting me out to do things. Lol!

I don't have that problem...I guess that's what happens when you live with your best friend and really don't have anyone else lol

To be fair, most of the time when I go out somewhere or do something it's usually with one of my sisters or my mum or my dad! Lol! I only have three close friends and they're generally busy most weekends (they're all separate friends that don't also know each other), they're all in relationships except me so they're generally busy with their boyfriends.

Being the third wheel is basically the story of my life! Lol! At one point I was friends with a group (including one of my close friends) where they were all couples except me so when we'd go out I was basically a fifth wheel unless my friend Matt came with us and then at least I had another single person to keep me company. I was basically Ted Mosby otherwise! Haha!

If you're new to Read-a-Thons, here are some FAQs.
What is a Read-a-Thon?
A readathon is an event that typically takes place over 24 hours. You are encouraged to read for 24 hours straight. A lot of groups, bookclubs, and websites have their own Read-a-Thons a few times a year (sometimes with challenges and prizes).
What are the dates?
Our group will be hosting four Read-a-Thons this year! The year has been split into four 'terms' and a Read-a-Thon will occur at the end of each term. When dates are decided, an announcement will be made.
First Term: March 20, 2015 8:00 PM CSTSecond Term: July 11, 2015 8:00 AM CST
Third Term: TBA
Fourth Term: TBA
Do I have to stay up for 24 hours?
Of course not! A Read-a-Thon is supposed to a fun event, not something you dread. Feel free to customize the Read-a-Thon to fit your needs. Many people just set a goal (i.e., read 3 books in the 24 hour period).
Is this required?
Oh heavens no! This is just a fun event for our group to participate in. If you are behind in your readings, this will be a great time to catch up!
Where can I sign up?
You can RSVP here.
Will there be discussions?
Of course! And games! And challenges! And prizes! During the 24-Hour Read-a-Thon, Various posts will be made in the Read-a-Thon folder for discussing goals, updating progress, suggesting books, and having fun!
