Did you enjoy the book? Sadly, no. The characters had absolutely zero personality, the plot twist was easy to see, and the writing was so boring.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes as you? Yes, we read lots of the same books, generally in the fantasy/YA genres.
Interested in recommending a book to all our members? We're listening :) I'd love to! Here's one of my favorites: Ella Enchanted. It's a retelling of Cinderella, and the main character has to do everything she's told, thanks to a rotten gift from her fairy godmother. The gift is used against her by the evil king of Frell, who asks her to kill her true love so he can take the throne. Does she kill him, or can she overcome her gift all by herself?
What did you read this week? Toby Alone, a french "children" book about tiny people.
Did you enjoy the book? Yes, I didn't expect to really enjoy it as my last tries with french authors were really disappointing. So, it was a good surprise and I'm looking forward to borrow the sequel.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
Yes, we enjoy reading children books and fantasy/dystopia and we tend to dislike the same hyped books. I knew I choose a safe path when I asked her a book :D

My favorite this year (and since many years) is definitively Hollow World, a bit of time travel, a bit of utopia and beautiful characters. I already recommended it several times and, so far, everybody gave it 4-5 stars, but we have the same view of life and society, so I suppose it helps to enjoy this story.

Inside the O'Briens
Did you enjoy the book?
Yes it was both well written and emotionally satisfying.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
I chose this from a goodreads friend who usually rates things pretty low, but gave this one 5 stars.

I read Epitaph a little early for the based on a true story book (was due at the library) and both it and the companion book, Doc by Mary Doria Russell would be excellent choices if you are still looking. They are about Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp, and the shooting at the OK Corral, but about so much more than a typical western!

Did you enjoy the book? Yes
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you? No, I took recommendations from the board.

Trial Junkies by Robert Gregory Browne
Did you enjoy the book?
Yes! I haven't finished it yet but over half way and it has really kept me interested!
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
We both really like mystery and suspense books but those are really the only genres we have in common. I love chick lit and she loves horror more.

Gosh this is always a difficult question for me to answer. I love so many books but the one I really enjoyed the most so far this year is Cinder & Ella by Kelly Oram. Please don't let the cover fool you. I know it looks pretty cheesy but this book gave me all the feels. Happiness, tears, laughter and covers some pretty serious topics. It is beautifully written and I recommend it to anyone!

I read Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson
Did you enjoy the book?
Oh my gosh yes. It's been awhile since I read a book that made me laugh so much or made me stop reading so I could find someone and tell them what I had just read.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
My sister is the one that said this would be a good book to read. We do like a lot of the same books and she hasn't steered me wrong on a recommended book yet!

This is such a hard question to answer, there are so many good books to read! I guess if I had to I would say either To Kill a Mockingbird or And Then There Were None those are two of my all time favorite books to read over and over again!

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
Did you enjoy the book?
I loved this book so much it hurts!
I had such a busy week - three tests and presentation based on my course paper - so it was hard to find time for reading. And I still finished this book in less than a week.
The writing was absolutely wonderful, so sarcastic, and characters were interesting and had depth.
The ending was powerful and a bit shocking - although I guessed some parts of it. I couldn't stop thinking about this book after I put it down. Usually I immediately go to the next one, but this time I needed a moment to take everything in.
Honestly, I'm so happy my friends recommended me this book. I can't recommend it enough to those of you who haven't read it. Do it!
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
I have a few friends that have similar tastes as me.

For a good mystery - Trap for Cinderella, a good dystopian novel - 1984. If you want an entertaining YA series, try The Shamer Chronicles

Did you enjoy the book? I did, yes. Eventually. I just couldn't get into it for the first third of the book, but once I did I got really into it!
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you? I'm not sure. It was recommended to me on Facebook by someone I don't normally talk books with. I've got several friends who tend to lean towards books which are popular at the moment, whereas I tend to avoid books that everyone's talking about, so I usually read different things to my friends.
Interested in recommending a book to all our members? We're listening :) The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman - I love, love, love it. Actually, anything by Neil Gaiman.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane
Did you enjoy the book?
I'm about 1/2 way through right now. It's kind of creeping me out, but interesting.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
Not really, but we like some of the same fantasy/sci fi TV and movies so I thought this was a good recommendation for me.
Interested in recommending a book to all our members? We're listening :)
Not sure yet.

I ended up reading Angels by Marian Keyes
Did you enjoy the book?
I did, but it's not the best of Keyes' books after my opinion. I enjoyed the second half of the book the most, and I look forward to continue the series about the Walsh family
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
We like many of the same books, and she recommended the series about the Walsh family because she knew I had enjoyed other books by Marian Keyes.

I've read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Did you enjoy the book?
Yes, it was nothing much or suprising, but it was a pleasant reading, an easy one.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
Yes, I think so.

I recomand The Physician by Noah Gordon

-- The Young Elites by Marie Lu
Did you enjoy the book?
-- Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved it! It was so much better than what I expected. I can't believe it got nominated in the goodreads awards and didn't win!
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
-- I think so, yeah.

-- Middlesex bye Jeffrey Eugenides because this was my first book for this challenge and I gave it 5 stars.

The Shining by Stephen King
Did you enjoy the book? Absolutely! I was curious about this book, but it was not my priority until my friend insisted so much I read it :)
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you? Not really. She likes philosophical or poetry books, I don't. I love fantasy and dystopian books, she doesn't. But we both share our love for the Horror Books :)
Interested in recommending a book to all our members? I recently discover The Lunar Chronicles and it's so cute! Also for this challenge, in my book for the category "an author I haven't read", I read Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb and it was awesome!

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
Did you enjoy the book?
Yes, I really enjoyed the dark humour of it all, though the plot meandered a lot.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
I think so, yes. :)

Uprooted Recently read it, and really wish there was another book, it reminded me of Howl's Moving Castle though much darker and grimmer (more adult). I may need to read her other series.

All My Friends are Superheroes
Did you enjoy the book?
Yes, I thought the ideas in it were fantastic.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
I kind of cheated on this one as this was a recommendation that I'd heard from a couple of YouTubers that I'm a huge fan of. Generally, I do have slightly similar tastes to reading as some of my friends although sometimes our tastes vary. All my friends have very different tastes too. One of my friends likes the philosophical books, one of them likes fantasy, and one of them likes YA.

The Color Purple and Battle Royale are two books that I've read for this years challenge and absolutely loved!

Did you enjoy the book? Yes, very much.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you? Yes for the most part! She's also my cousin so maybe blood tells ...
Interested in recommending a book to all our members? We're listening :) This was my first Liane Moriarty book but definitely not my last! Other than that ... there are so many truly great books out there it's hard to choose. On a more serious note, I believe Brave New World should be required reading. Then read this .

Did you enjoy the book? No. Hester Prynne is one kick-arse feminist character, but the writing was SO dry and dull that is was excruciating to read.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you? I'm certainly wondering after this book! ;)
Interested in recommending a book to all our members? We're listening :) I Want My Hat Back ... ok, yes, it's a children's book. A picture book. But it is absolute perfection in a few short pages - absolutely hilarious. And it gets funnier each time I read it. And I read it a lot.

Did you enjoy the book? Yes.
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you? Yes! I frequently get recommendations from her and I've never regretted reading those books.
Interested in recommending a book to all our members? We're listening :) The Housekeeper and the Professor and The Name of the Wind. My two favorites from out of all I've read this year.

Tempest
Did you enjoy the book?
Surprisingly, yes!
Does your friend usually have the same reading tastes than you?
For the most part, that's why this one came up. It was really the only thing she had recently read that I hadn't.

Honestly, I know it's a big book but if you can get through Outlander, it's totally worth the time. (Of course if you don't want to read that chunkster the TV series season one is nearly the exact same...)
