I've never read The Lord of the Flies, although it's been sitting on my shelf for a couple years...
I like how complex Oskar is. Usually our knee-jerk reaction to bullying is just feeling sorry for the victim but this time it gets a bit creepier because of his fascination with murders and death penalty. great character.

Also, I finished the first part last night. I really liked it. There was a part in particular that made me feel empty so I'm kind of afraid what the rest of the book will be like.


Oskar is great...his dark side makes him a very interesting character. I wouldn't call him a sociopath either though...I love how protective he was getting of Eli towards the end of the first part.
Overall, it has been a bit unsettling. I won't be able to easily forget the scene (view spoiler) .
On to part 2 now! Also, nice to meet you too Greg!
