This is more of a thriller but it's got a tinge of a ghost story to it.

This takes place in a run-down hotel but it's turned into a sort of asylum.

Again, not exactly an asylum but a crazy doctor and his locked up experiments.

I'm sure you'll get some other suggestions. Happy reading.

I've got a real fascintation with old hospitals etc

On the same train of thought, I recommend the graphic novel Arkham Asylum:A Serious House on a Serious Earth by Grant Morrison. It's a chilling meditation on madness, Batman sort of harrowing hell and facing the psychological threat of his rogue's gallery.
Amy wrote: "Patrick McGrath's Asylum is pretty twisted - it's not traditional horror, more psychological - but I really liked it."
I have a copy of McGrath's 'Asylum' I LOVE horror that screws w/your head.... LOL

I am in the mood for a horror book with asylums (abandoned or not) and I'm not having a lot of luck. Can anyone recommend some that they know of?
Thanks in advance!
