I'll now start adding my books in as well - perhaps the less 'fruity' ones :)

I was going to post a book on the Currently Reading list of the group but it had a very revealing cover. I didn't want to scar any young eyes that might wander this way.
If you're taking votes.... *whispers* we should totally be 18+....

Hi Ty!
Sorry I didn't respond sooner, just saw your post. This group is not 18+. But it is a romance group, and lots of us read erotic romance here. I have to admit I have probably posted many, many smexy covers in the last 3 years here, LOL. You know I have to see that cover of yours now! If you are worried about it and it's really explicit, maybe leave it off the home page. What's the title??
I will defer to Yz as to whether she prefers very explicit covers not appear on the home page. But we're not a YA group.......

(And if you look on my page, you can see the cover of a certain Authurian saga that really had nothing to do with the book *disgruntled*)

I know what you mean about that cover. It doesn't actually show anything, but the placement of his hands... It was the same cover as another book, but I think the author changed it.
(view spoiler) ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I've been reading romance novels since my early teens too. I remember Flowers in the Attic- I was about 14 when I read that (I am totally dating myself!).

I agree Penney, I've seen way worse. But for me, the placement of his hands when she is standing straight ahead like that. Most covers have the girls from the side or back, I've seen few from straight on like that, with the guy's hands directly covering her like that.

Anyhoo, even with everything I've seen (and been exposed to voluntarily or otherwise), I just had a mind-check the first moment I saw it because it did make me go, "hmmm."

It depends on the challenge. It should state in the rules/guidelines post of the challenge whether to repost or edit your original post. Did you have a specific challenge in mind? The monthly challenges are reposting (new post every time), the tournaments are usually editing original post because of length.
I hope I helped! You can always ask in the particular challenge thread of a challenge you aren't sure of. The host of that challenge will be sure to let you know :)
Lots of times it's your choice, either way, whatever works better for you :)

Thanks, Fran. I was thinking more for the Quarterly Challenge, the Season Challenge and the yearly challenges! :)

I am attempting to organize my large ebook collection and add them to goodreads. I am currently using the portable Calibre. Any suggestions on getting all the ebooks added in?

Hi Shannon - sorry I missed this earlier but I don't think I can shed any light on this problem :) I'm very manual in my GR library management :( A GR librarian may know or at least know someone to ask...

I've never used the portable version of Calibre, but from what I've seen it looks like it works just like the desktop version, so I think this will work. In Calibre, under the "Convert Books" dropdown is an option to create a catalog of your books. You can use that to create a .csv file of all of your books. It's been years since I did it, but if I remember correctly the import will work more smoothly/faster if you deselect any of the non-essential or especially custom columns under the "CSV/XML Options" tab. Click OK and it will ask for a location and create a .csv file that you can then import into GR using the "import/export" tool (found under tools, below your list of bookshelves in your GR library. You'll want to check the file that you created to be sure the column names match exactly with the corresponding column on GR's sample file or it won't import correctly. You don't need all the columns, you just need the ones you want it to look at to match exactly.
I hope this helps...if you have any questions or run into problems, feel free to ask here or send me a PM (I'm less likely to miss that, actually...)

I don't know if this is the right place to ask my question, but I couldn't find any other threat that fit better than this one.
Does anyone of you have problems with the RRRC challenge that at the top of the group's page (2018 RRRC READING ADDICTS READING CHALLENGE)? Mine features some books 3 times though I have read them only twice, and other books are not featured at all, though I have definitely entered them in my bookshelf for that specific challenge. And there are also books that I have read overall this year but which are definitely not romantic in any sense. When I click on the bookshelf though, everything is in order.
Could the problem be that I have recently changed the name of the bookshelf (I shortened it)? If any of you know the answer to my problem, I would be grateful for an answer, if not, then I have to live with screwed statistics and covers that don't fit the challenge......

Sorry it took so long to answer. Unfortunately I don't know how much help I can be. I know a lot of things with the shelves have been screwy throughout GR since they added the reread function - as far as I know it's still very buggy, so that might be a big part of your problem. Changing your shelf name shouldn't make a difference, as long as you changed it in the challenge too - and if it was a name mismatch, none of your books should be showing. The only thing I can suggest is to double-check to be sure that the books with issues have the correct number of times read (if you haven't already) since I know that's one of the things that is still wacky.
Sorry I couldn't be more help...maybe someone who understands the group challenges a little better than me will chime in with some other ideas!

I deleted the challenge and entered again, but that didn't change anything. All the times read are correctly entered, so that can't be the issue. It must be something else then. Thanks for trying to help though.

You might try to create a new shelf, and put the books from this year on it, then use it for the challenge. It might work then. A lot of work though, I know. Or it could be as Karen said, just a quirk with GR shelves.

2.Copper Ridge Collection by Maisey Yates has 3 books and two novellas.
If I read this collection is it a 3 or 5series? Not sure about the Novellas.
thanks

You do this - < spoiler > but without the spaces.

If you are asking about using that in The Bachelor Challenge, it would be better to ask in the challenge threads. But no, you need four primary books, the novella do not count towards the necessary four books.

No, we don't have a book of the month. The currently reading are books that members have added to the RRRC bookshelf and they are currently reading. It's nothing formal. 😊

okay thank you I was just making sure so I could get involved if it was a thing lol

It is completely up to you. Personally - I have a hard enough time keeping up with my personal shelves sometimes! 🤣

All of our interactive challenges are short enough that they run multiple times a year, and anyone over 18 years old is welcome to join. The Meet and Greet runs bi-monthly, and the signups for the next round will start in early July, with groups being assigned for picking around the middle of the month. The dates shift slightly from round to round, but always in that general time frame so everyone can have their picks done and be ready to start reading the first of the month. PtP, TART, and BTC each run twice a year. There's never any overlap between TART and BTC, but some overlap between them and PtP. The current round of BTC just started. Signups for the next round of PtP I believe will start sometime in August, and TART signups should be in September. We try to give advance notice for all of these in our Monthly Newsletter and also in separate broadcast messages, so if you aren't receiving these you might want to check your profile to be sure you're able to receive messages.
I hope this answers your questions...if not, feel free to ask here or send a PM to me, Fran, Jane, or MountainKat. Welcome to the group!

Long story short, could I ask one of the moderators to please delete my old list/topic in the "Members' Reading Lists" folder? The list that can be deleted is called "Rachel I's Reading Challenges/Lists". And here is the link, if that helps.

Hi Rachel,
Just to be sure I'm understanding correctly and don't mess things up for you, you want that entire thread (11 messages) deleted?

Hi! Sorry it took me so long to write back!
Yes, that's what I mean. The entire thread. :)
