Kristen Ashley also has a vampire series which is good. The first one is Until the Sun Falls from the Sky (The Three, #1) by Kristen Ashley It's her same writing style as the Rock Chicks, etc.

Have you read Wallbanger by Alice Clayton or Real (Real, Raw & Ripped, #1) by Katy Evans Both are contemp romance. I liked both a lot.

message 105: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 7 comments I loved Real not so much for Wallbanger.

All of them are independent reads. But there are references to characters that connect all the books. I read books 4 and 6 in this series and had no issues with book jumping.

Lothaire is still evilish at the end of his book.

Also, Kristen Ashley has a series called Unfinished Heroes, and I think they still stay pretty edgy. I am sure someone can dispute this if I am wrong.
Knight
Creed
Raid

message 112: by Rosalyn (new)

Rosalyn | 2 comments Hello there, new member here! I would love some recommendations on what to pick next. Things I tend to like, but am not restricted to:

+ Well-researched historical novels
+ Urban fantasy
+ Magical creatures
+ Cliche- and trope-busting stories
+ Heroes who are strong, without being controlling. A quiet confidence, not a violent one.
+ Heroines who have a life of their own without the Hero, and who don't need to be rescued. Hell, maybe they even do some rescuing of their own.
+ Steamy, thoughtful sex. Especially where the Hero makes sure the Heroine gets everything she needs. Creative, body-positive, gentle or rough.

Things I haven't tended to like in the past, but am willing to be persuaded otherwise if there's a book you think I would adore:

+ Really in-depth series titles where the author keeps re-using the same formula over and over but you keep reading them because you liked the first one and you like the formula but then six months later you actually can't remember what the plots were.
+ Modern romances set in beach towns where the heroine runs a cupcake shop or a bookshop or a B&B or something.
+ Old West. But, like I said, persuade me.
+ Any non-con, abuse, violence against women, unless it is punished in the course of the plot. I don't like heroes who are "so passionate" they backhand women.
+ A tone that's too flippant or too angsty.

Ok, wow, that's kind of a long list. Basically I just need a hot Alpha who is mated for life to an intelligent woman who kicks butt. Woo hoo! :D

Kryptonite (sg34) | 406 comments Urban Fantasy: Ilona Andrews, I believe Nalini Singh's Guild-Hunter and Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series is under the UF category.

Strong H/h: How about Immortal After Dark by Kresley Cole.

Usually not into apocalyptic type books, but really liked the Demonica series. Night Huntress series is a great series.

message 134: by Missyb (new)

Missyb | 98 comments I'd go with Sharona's suggestion of the Pride series. Many different types of characters, sarcastic humor in both. Kryptonite's suggestions were good too. Demonica, Dark Hunter series also have many types of characters too.

I've been reading through a lot of the thread and have since downloaded some of Kristen Ashley's stuff (since she seems to be the most recommended) but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for an author similar to Lora Leigh or J.R. The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter
Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione
Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1) by Lara Adrian
Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh

Are you looking for more books like this one? Are you looking for contemp romance only? If you liked the Kristen Ashely book she has a lot of other series you could check out. I don't read a lot of CR so I'm not your best person for recommendations in that genre but here are a few I've read recently that I liked a lot & that seem to be popular on the threads.

Real (Real, Raw & Ripped, #1) by Katy Evans
Wallbanger by Alice Clayton
Creed (Unfinished Hero, #2) by Kristen Ashley
Reaper's Property (Reapers MC, #1) by Joanna Wylde

I liked the BDB series better then Adrian's Mid. Breed series.
Ione's Demonica and Lords Of Deliverance series are excellent. I usually don't read apocalyptic type books, but couldn't get enough of these 2 series. The Demonica series leads into the L of D series and some of the characters cross over.
Showalter, I read the first book in the Lords of the Underworld series and then gave up on it.

message 146: by Elisa (new)

Elisa | 8 comments Thanks Missyb. I also liked BDB better. I will start Ione next.
