Sorry, I did not keep track of all of the authors I checked (which was quite a few as I got all the way to Miller on my to-read list). That said, I feel like there was tons of 11s.

I think I have it easy for the second half, the description is "expansive, visionary, adventure, constructive use of freedom", which to me means pretty much any adventure/grand hero type will work.

Rebecca (thebookhangover) | 46 comments I'm a five and my characteristics are: Expansiveness, visionary, adventure, the constructive use of freedom.

The dictionary defines visionary as:
adjective
1 (esp. of a person) thinking about or planning the future with imagination or wisdom : a visionary leader.
archaic (of a scheme or idea) not practical.
2 of, relating to, or able to see visions in a dream or trance, or as a supernatural apparition : a visionary experience.
archaic existing only in a vision or in the imagination.

So could I read a book about someone who has premonitions for part B?

Juniper (jooniperd) Hi everyone.

I am hoping you can help me find a great book for part two of this task. I am a #6. The positive traits are: responsibility, protection, nurturing, community, balance and sympathy. The negative traits are: worrying too much and self-sacrifice. I prefer to read literary fiction. I am about to go through my TBR books and read the synopsis pages again but thought I would post here in case someone has a good recommendation that pops into their mind.

Thanks!!

You might consider Anne Tyler--I'm especially thinking of Saint Maybe but some of her other books work too.

Hi Elizabeth and Donna Jo.

Those are both great suggestions and I really loved both novels, but I have read them already. This is also one of my dilemmas. LOL. I clearly read too much (is that even possible??); I have read all of Anne Tyler's works as well as Mary Lawson's.

On my bookshelf, I found:

Necessary Arrangements, The Palace of Strange Girls and He Drown She in the Sea: A Novel. All three sound like they have potential, but it is so hard to know until you are into the novel. Anyone read any of these?

Anne Tyler is so special. I have been lucky enough to find a way to fit in two of hers this challenge.

Leigh Ann (leighannflyingonsilverwings) I'm a 3, and I don't think I saw Harlan Coben listed anywhere. I'm going to read The Woods. I'm having trouble with the characteristics though, if anyone has any ideas. "Expression, verbalization, socialization, the arts and the joy of living"

I'll look through my shelves, but one that came immediately to mind is My Most Excellent Year: A Novel of Love, Mary Poppins, and Fenway Park. It's a great book, provided you are ok with reading YA.

ETA: I think your best bet is a coming of age story, especially with those first 3 characteristics. Along with the above, I would also recommend:

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Wednesday Wars
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

Also, I haven't read this yet but it's on my tbr and it looks like it might fit:
Black Swan Green: A Novel

2nd ETA: The above books don't have just the first three characteristics, for example:

I know for sure that My Most Excellent Year, Wednesday Wars, and Absolutely True Diary all incorporate the arts, and 'the joy of living' theme fits them all.

Anything with a monarch as the main character.
A novel about obtaining civil rights.
An adventure novel with exploring.
One of those crime novels where a person independently solves a crime.
One of those fantasy novels where a single person has to go save the world.

Jamie, you might like The Hearts of Horses by Molly Gloss. Set in 1918, the main character certainly exhibits many of your characteristics. It's a charming story. I listened to it on CD and loved it (and I normally hate listening to books. This was good enough I missed the exit off the turnpike and had to pay extra toll to get to my sister's house.)
