Love Found Me
[close:] Mike Montgomery once lived the American dream. Gainfully employed, beautiful home, and a wonderful loving wife. Growing up in a loving family whose faith was unbreakable was his source of strength. Mike's faith would one day be shaken after losing the love of his life in an unexpected tragedy. Mike thought he would never love again until he meets Sheila Lawson. Everything about Sheila made him want to love again. Could he risk his heart again?
Sheila Lawson, a woman’s health advocate was strong and independent, yet something was missing in her life. Immersing herself in her work, she vowed off any relationships. Sheila would find her self-made decree shaken when she meets tall, dark, and handsome Mike Montgomery. There is an evil lurking in the shadows. Mike and Sheila will have to unite to overcome evil forces trying to keep them apart. Will their love be enough to see them through the testing of their faith?

how did you decide on the genre of books you would write and the characters involved
Hi Rick! And thank you for the opportunity!
Great questions, I wrote what was inside of me. There are just something’s that we know that we are called to do. I knew I was called to write inspirational novels. What I didn’t know however it would be more inspirational suspense than inspirational romance.
My characters were such joy to write. I absolutely adore Mike Montgomery and Sheila Lawson. Mike is a man’s man who is both humble and staid with whom he is as person. These traits of course were obtained on his journey of self-discovery. Sheila is a Women Health Advocate who readers will absolutely adore. I know do! Rick, this book “Love Found Me, basically wrote itself. The characters wanted their stories told badly, and I obliged them.
I am currently working on my next installment in this love series, titled "Love Lifted Me." This is Rayna's and Eric's story. These characters are both stubborn and are a little resistent in sharing their stories with me, as both them are private. But, I shall prevail! lol. I am enjoying what I know of them so far!

Vanessa: Thank you for the welcome Brian!
Brian: By reading your synopsis, your book deals with the centuries upon centuries scenario of good verses evil. Do you personally believe that everyone can be instilled with faith?
Vanessa: Great question! I believe we are all endowed with a measure of faith, Brian. Faith is a wonderful thing to have and I dare say a necessity. Faith can be acquired through our life experiences. I know many of people who’d experience hardship (s) their situation transforming them into soldiers and warriors; actually doing bold things they never thought they’d ever do! As was the case with my hero; Mike Montgomery in “Love Found Me.
Mike find’s his faith shaken, due to an unexpected tragedy. Naïvely, his mind set was, good things happens to good people, and bad things happens to bad people. Mike’s long standing faith is shaken, thus he begins to question not only his faith-- but himself as a man.
Brian: I often observed a "Christian" family that has sons or daughters or both. Some follow the example of their parents while others are vehemently against it.
Vanessa: This is very much true, Brian. I found myself smiling in agreement as I read this passage. I have to admit family has played apart in my faith.
Brian: I am very curious to know which writing style you like best. Writing novels, poetry or playwright? Or do you enjoy all equally? Which of the three would you deem the most difficult to write? Finally, how would you personally describe performing in front of an audience? Best Wishes.
Vanessa The Author: Brian, I am what one calls an introvert extrovert. I love to write and perform. Then I have my moments, where I just a quiet little thing. Lol. My books are more of a private journey. I am blessed to write these wonderful inspirational stories and then share them with the world, to read with the hope that they’d love it.
The Poet: My poems are from another place and journey. Sometimes these places and journeys are not mine but that of others and just creations of my mind. When I memorize my poems and act them out. I take my audience on a journey with me. Here is something I’ve learned. While performing—if my audiences are silent and wide-eyed with anticipation, then; I have connected with them. If they are fidgeting and looking at me in askance and boredom, then I didn’t succeed in connecting neither with them; nor with my character am I performing.
The Playwright: I write, direct, and produce my stage productions annually. It is hard work! I love it, however. There is a recipe to stage production. A great script and greater actors and actresses to name a few ingredients. I call it the frenzy! The band is popping. The atmosphere from the cast and audience members is tangible! Words can not explain the feeling. Truly, one would have to be there. I love performing before a live audience because of the instant feedback. Every now and then we get some advice from the audience when a certain scene shocks or upset them. Such fun!
Vanessa: Thank you for your wonderful questions, Brian! Best to you!

Welcome to the forum! I am wondering about the effort and planing that go into writing a book versus a poem versus a play. Of course a book is likely the longest process but do you start at the same place with regards to plotting an idea and beginning to implement it?

It is uncanny really, but with each entity, I start from different places, as the styles are different. You are correct, writing a book requires greater effort and planning. Depending on subject matter, the research varies. For Love Found Me, I did some research on domestic abuse.

Best,
Vanessa

Both Maya Angelou and Nikki Giavanni influenced me- not only through their words but their deeds and action. Their life and testimony are quite fascinating, and inspiring.
You can make it over the bumps in the roads. :)
If you should choose, (providing if you have not) to read these ladies works, would love to know how it goes for you. I will be certain to check Sylvia Plath works out! Thanks, for the recommend, Brian.

Ego-Tripping and Other Poems for Young People

Best,

Vannessa- dont you agree that is is sad that so many fine poets are now mostly forgotten - my favorite Countee Cullen draws blank stares when I mention him to other readers- are you familiar with his brilliant work. his death at 43 was a terrible tragedy.
Langston Hughes is another favorite- but it seems that in today's society that people are more concerned about his sexuality then his poetic genius

I want to say you are doing a great job with your group here, and again thank you for the invite and opportunity. :)
I do admire Countee Cullen's works and Langston Hughes, whom most are familiar with. :)
For some poetry is considered as a fad. However, you have those poets and poetry lover who continue to breathe life into it. I've connect with several poets via some social sites, and it is unbelievable how alive poetry is.
Although, poetry is defined, styled, and/or structured.
Poetry Styles
