The weirder the better! Welcome, and if you write I encourage you to post anything you like.

I'm only beginning to write fiction seriously, but when I do, it tends to be weird. I too love Murakami. I enjoy Poe, who can be quite strange. And Lovecraft.

I like Kafka, Joyce, Bukowski (If you don't think he's weird try reading Pulp), Carroll, etc. Anything that makes you want to do backwards somersaults onto a tambourine. You know that feeling.
I also write weird fiction. Now I feel self-promotional. Whatever. There's a story on my page. Read it if you want. Or don't.

New to Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ and pretty new to reading weird fiction. At the moment I'm leaning more towards the early 20th century weird i.e. A. Blackwood, WH Hodgson, Lovecraft (of course) C. L. Moore, etc. etc. I also enjoy the new weird but haven't read much. M. John Harrison's Viriconium cycle was amazing as was Mieville's Perdido Street Station.
Haven't really put many books on my shelfs yet but plan to. Looking forward to reading more thoughts on this genre.

My name is Abhay
I like reading a few selected books only.
mostly horror and science fiction
My Favorite Authors are:
H.P. Lovecraft
Ian Fleming
Stephen King
Issac Asimov
H.G. Wells
John Grisham
Chetan Bhagat
I am a writer and have published a few ebooks and have a few poems published on online magazines
My latest ebook is "Cave of Madness" I am giving it away for free
The story revolves around a speleologist who has been send to a remote village on a relief campaign to investigate a cave which is believed to be source of a sudden epidemic break out.
download it free from here
Cave of Madness is a part of “Realms of Insanity
Realms of Insanity consist of two short stories “Cave of Madness and “Dense Macabre.
These stories are mostly inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s dark visions.
The full details of inspirations for both the stories will be given at the end of the book.
Cave of Madness:
The story revolves around a speleologist who has been send to a remote village on a relief campaign to investigate a cave which is believed to be source of a sudden epidemic break out.
Dense Macabre:
Story is written in first person narration, the story is about the narrator and his friend. One late evening narrator and his friend went out for a walk but his friend took him on a hike to an undisclosed destination but the events takes a grim turn.

I am a bit weird. I was born on the banks of the Lachlan River, my recent ancestors are convicts and bishops and I presently work in the most haunted building in my city.
I love Poe and Lovecraft and Pu Song Ling. I also have a terribly bad habit that is I watch the tv show Supernatural. It is quite silly I know but they occasionally do their research and it is a guilty pleasure of mine to escape in the world of the Winchesters.
The weirdest and darkest book I have ever read is the Wasp Factory' by Ian Banks.

My name's Jason Carney. I'm new to GoodReads and am trying to find some people to interact with. I study Lovecraft academically (please don't hold it against me). I also love weird fiction,..."
What aspect of Lovecraft are you studying?

Name is Jeff, author of ebook The End Begins: The Nine. Jeff Zweig II
Genre is prmarily sci-fi, fantasy but I like complex characters and good plot.
Looking for beta readers/critique partners for short stories and my longer works I'm looking to self publish throughout the year. Willing to swap for critique as well.
Exploring weird fiction a bit ever since reading Perdedo Street Station.
Looking forward to being involved! Thanks!

(That's a collective compliment by the way, or at least it was meant as one!)
My username may be of a supernatural ilk, but I love fiction that chafes at the boundaries of convention and challenges stereotype to a satisfactory punch up. This looks like the sort of group for that, and I very much look forward to bouncing opinions of the shifting walls with all of you.

I write regularly for Schlock webzine and have P(self) published one novella Hettford Witch Hunt: Series One. I like the idea of weirdness sneaking into everyday life.

Anthony here, I generally love anything weird, strange and horror. I am the author, along with my wife Jessica, of The Mythological Dimensions of Doctor Who & The Mythological Dimensions of Neil Gaiman.
But more recently the Lovecraftian short story collection The Friendly Horror and Other Weird Tales http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18...
All of the stories are inspired by Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, HP Lovecraft but the final and main story The Friendly Horror is our more contemporary follow up to HPL's The Shadows Over Innsmouth.
It is available on Amazon in Print & Kindle here:
On Smashwords in multiple ebook format
Would love to hear your thoughts on the book.
Cheers,
Anthony

I'm a huge fan of the work of UK author, Joel Lane which is how I ended up here.
For those who don't know his work he has written a series of short stories mainly set in Birmingham and the Black Country (the urban heartland of the UK) as well as 3 books of poetry and 2 highly impressive novels - From Blue to Black and The Blue Mask. He has edited collections of noir and weird fiction.
His writing fairly consistently focuses on the soul of man in these decaying environments. The bleak urban landscape mirrors the inner feelings of the characters who inhabit the bars, clubs, music places and seedier parts of a post industrial city.
His work has been described as urban noir, gritty realist but he describes himself as a writer of 'weird fiction' with occasional work in the noir strand of crime fiction.
I cannot recommend his work highly enough. There is a poetic beauty and lingering sadness to his work that is both compelling and haunting. The writing stays with you on your journey.....

I really like your group!
Can you join my group called For the Love of Horror? If you love anything horror, syfy, fantasy, trillers then you'll like this we have it all. I'm trying to get more people involved with it. Can you promote my page on your group? Please? I can do the same one my group. We also are picking authors that are unknown to be give the chance of submitting their work to a folder so they can be picked to be that months book. It's really neat.
Spread the word.
Thanks.
