FA10 General Challenge Questions & Answers

Sam & Krista will have to weigh in on the Reading through Time sub-challenge. I would think that if you have read a number of books from various centuries, it would be easy to fit them in under the "time leaper" path (where the books can be read in any order). The "constant traveler" path is a little more difficult to complete without prior planning, as the books from the different 50-year periods have to be read in chronological order starting from 1951-2000 or 1500-1550.
Welcome & I look forward to seeing your name at the readerboard right next to Colleen!

Thanks and I am soooo excited to have some more fun things to do this season!!

Does farm work count as a profession/career? Could I read Out of Africa or Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life?
How much of the book has to be specifically about the profession? In Dispatches, the author specifically discusses the act of reporting and the role of a reporter for about 1/3 of the book. The rest is a rumination of his experiences in Vietnam, a description of war through the eyes of an observer (and, of course, he was only there as an observer because he convinced Esquire to send him to Vietnam to cover the war....). Does this fit?

And welcome!

Yes, I would prefer smaller posts as they are easier to manage. What I think would work best is if you posted just one message with a few books included in it to start with. Let me take a look at that message and get back to you with any comments or suggestions before you start posting your whole slug of books.
I usually only have a chance to update the score tallies on Saturday and/or Sunday. As with other folks who joined the challenge late, I will keep up with the current player's scores and work your messages in as time permits. There is a chance that I may not get all your points posted on the Readerboard before the challenge ends. (Depending on how many books you post -- and the volume of messages from other players.)
I'll note which if your messages I still need to tally when I update the scores in the Readerboard folder.
Welcome to the challenge!

Ack! I already posted several messages, but each with only a few books. It isn't a huge list, so I hope it was okay. If you need me to repost, you can let me know. Also, I'm not overly concerned about tallying -- it was fun for me just to try to fit things in for my own logic-problem-solving fix.

No worries. I'll work through them and let you know if I find any issues. Again --- Welcome to Reading with Style!

Yes, they're still eligible for task points but not style points.

And also in response to the comment that the Seasonal Reading CHallenge is too complicated: I say that if I can finish the entire Challenge except the 50 pointer in less than 30 days, then it is too easy.
I would like to participate in the Reading With Style but will wait for an answer to my first questions about tasks for the SRC and the RWS Thanks!!!
