Stephanie Tuell (booksloveme) | 112 comments so while playing around with goodreads a few minutes ago, i discovered that if you click my books, then look on the left side of the screen where all of your shelves are listed, go to the bottom of that list and there is a thing called 'stats'. if you click on the link, on mine anyway, you get a screen that lists books for 2010, 2009, 2008, and 2007. there are 2 options: books and pages. books tells you how many books you read that year (or shelved for that year) and pages is the same thing for pages! i think this is cool.

i have seen challenges where you have to keep track of how many pages you read. i never got excited about it because i didn't want to do that math :) but since i found that page, i am willing to give it a try! anyone else seen this page or interested in this challenge?

Stephanie Tuell (booksloveme) | 112 comments my goal for this year 2010, is 35,000 pages. i'm at 19,000

message 3: by Heather (last edited Oct 11, 2010 02:01AM) (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) Pay attention to it as you read. Sometimes things don't register. I have issues with books I've read on the first of the month not adding up. That's why I've kept track in other challenges. My stats say I'm at 106,642 for the year, but as of last week I was at 107,254 from actually keeping track. Plus, I've read several books since last week so the gap is bigger than 600. I have 1008 page book that never did register on any of my stats.

Stephanie Tuell (booksloveme) | 112 comments Thanks for the tip

message 5: by Sashana (new)

Sashana *sigh* Yet another good challenge. Stephanie, I think I'll have to do this in 2011.

message 6: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Sashana, I'll join you. I always keep a log of the book I read, the h/h, the year the book was published and the author's name. Now I'll include the number of pages..

message 7: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) My goal was 100,000, but I hit that so I'm going to say I'll be happy if I end up between 115,000 and 120,000.
(My ticker is set up to 1,000,000 because I'm in a group with that as a goal from 2010-?.)

message 8: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Heather, can you explain to me how to get a ticker please.

message 9: by Heather (last edited Oct 11, 2010 02:15PM) (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) The best thing to do is . Follow the instructions and remember your password for future updates. The link I provided will let you make your own ticker, although the main site has ones for pregnancy and other stuff. Anyway, once you've entered your info and picked a design it'll give you the html for your ticker. Copy it and paste it wherever you want it. Then, as you progress, just click on your ticker and it'll take you to update your information. Once it's updated you're good. You don't even have to re-paste the html since it's the same code. It'll update your tickers everywhere.

message 10: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) I knew about this, but like Heather said it doesn't register all of them for some reason. I have read 164 books and it is only showing 158.

message 11: by Sashana (new)

Sashana

Thanks, Heather!

message 12: by Michelle (last edited Oct 25, 2010 12:32AM) (new)

Michelle (lifeasabooknerd) My goal is 45,000. We'll see how close I get. :)

message 13: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments The only problem with using the goodreads info (for me anyway) is that some of the books I marked read this year were not read this year. They were just books that I remembered reading at some point in my life.

message 14: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Tuell (booksloveme) | 112 comments Ahhh. That could be an issue. I have a shelf for each year.

message 15: by Irene (new)

Irene Hollimon | 52 comments wow that's pretty cool
I added 38 books last year
and 56 this year

message 16: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (lifeasabooknerd) Not all of the books that I have on my 2010 shelf as READ show up either. Does anyone know what to do about that? (Other than adding up each books pages and totalling on our own?) If the stat page doesn't record properly its kinda pointless, isn't it?

message 17: by Irene (new)

Irene Hollimon | 52 comments Well the page thing doesn't work for me because I always read ebooks and the number of pages on my eReader NEVER matches the number of pages on the site even when I switch editions to the ebook edition. The page numbers aren't right.

message 18: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Hmm Irene. You should mention that to the ŷ Feedback group. There are probably plenty of people out there sharing your frustration... The Feedback Group may be able to fix that.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments can someone help me out, i have read 10 books since my last update but it is only saying that i have read 35,678, which is only 577 pages more but 3 of the books that i have read is more pages then that. i need help please

message 31: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments ❤Stephanie, the flaw in this system is that it can't read a page number that isn't there.

I added page numbers to about 40 of your books; however, you have 17 on your "2013-reading-challenge" shelf where I can't find page numbers. It will take several hours, or maybe overnight, to correct the numbers of those I added.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments okay, thank you so much Lisa Kay :D

message 33: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Looks like you're above 43,000 now. Does that sound better? You'll have to calculate the other in by hand.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments yeah, thanks Lisa Kay.
i changed my goal to 50,000

Mirliz | 373 comments I could as well join this too for next year.

Back in high school I once managed to read somewhere around 33,000 pages in little less than half a year during a reading contest at the school library. I have been reading a lot less in the past few years, but I will set my goal for 2014 at 35,000 pages.

Page Challenge
