Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 196 comments Oh good. I need another Chicago based book for the Seasonal Reading Challenge. :) Instead of Practice Makes Perfect, Ill be reading Something About You

message 603: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments I'm thinking I'll read Deadly Nightshade in place of Deadly Dreams. But this may yet change :)

message 604: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments Good list :)

I will probably read Faith & Fidelity.

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 196 comments I just thought of something -- I know I can substitute books in a series, but I just remembered that Something About You is the first in the US Attorney/FBI series and Practice Makes Perfect is a stand alone book.

Can I still substitute Something About You for Practice Makes Perfect?

message 606: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I'm going to use this list to get back to the Stephanie Plum series. I will be reading Two for the Dough.

I can't understand how I miss this question.

Sorry to say, it has to be a book within the same series as the 'listed' book.

Thanks! :D Not a problem. I'll just read Vengeance in Death for Celebrity in Death instead.

message 609: by Nicola (new)

Nicola | 649 comments I finished Hot Six (Stephanie Plum, #6) by Janet Evanovich for Smokin' Seventeen (Stephanie Plum, #17) by Janet Evanovich on the 25th. I find Stephanie quite humorous even though she is a bit ditzy. I wonder how she gets insurance though, she goes through cars like most people go through underwear!

message 610: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I finished Two for the Dough for Smokin' Seventeen. I really enjoyed the book. It made me giggle a lot plus a few laugh out loud moments. 4 stars.

message 611: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments I'm going to switch to Shattered Glass - I've just received it as a rec for a challenge, so it ties in neatly :)

message 612: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments I'm going to switch to Bear, Otter and the Kid.

message 613: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments We just can't make our minds up, eh Fran? ;)

message 614: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments I finished Shattered Glass last night... 5 stars! This is a great book with some truly funny moments :) And quite a complex storyline - it kept me engaged the whole way through and gave a really good wrap up at the end. Very entertaining and worth the read :)

message 615: by Lekshmy (new)

Lekshmy | 245 comments I finished Knots and crosses.. it was a boring book.. it was just too simple...

message 616: by [deleted user] (new)

I read Chasing Nikki by Lacey Weatherford and finished it on [7/11/2012], giving it 4 stars. It was a wonderful and emotional YA novel, I'm already looking forward to the sequel.

message 617: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I finished Faith & Fidelity a few days ago and give it 4 stars. It was a nice read, even if a bit predictable at time and somehow everyone seemed to take it too much in stride that two presumably straight guys were 'suddenly' gay.

message 618: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (esmerelda1) | 2244 comments I finished Beauty Queens last night and it was really good! I thought it was going to be really dumb, but I listened to the audiobook version and there were times that I literally laughed out loud! The author did a really nice job animating all the different voices too. 5 Stars!

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 196 comments Vengeance in Death (for Celebrity in Death) -- 3.5 (rounded up to 4) -- 17 July 2012 -- Enjoyed this one more than the previous book. Interesting to see more of the personal side of Summerset.

I've been thinking about buying that one Suzanne. Good to know that it was well narrated - might have to push it up the buying list :)

I love these lists! I have found some great reads that I've never heard of before :)

message 623: by Vi (last edited Jul 22, 2012 08:12PM) (new)

Vi | 2736 comments Fran, Gone, Gone, Gone looks really good too. Wanna buddy read?

I second that. I love these lists. They introduce me to new books and make me take ones off my TBR as well. Great deal!

I'll let you know when I get my copy, it might take a few weeks.

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 763 comments Finished Fury (New Species, #1) by Laurann Dohner 4 stars

This series appears to be similar in topic to Lora Leigh's Breeds series, but that did not detract from my enjoyment in the least. (view spoiler)

Sorry, I hope it is ok if I change my choice?

On second thought I decided to read John Dies at the End by David Wong. I'm in a mood for something funny, I hope it will not be a disappointment. :)

It's not set in stone...until you've actually read the book.. : )

Feel free to change.

message 637: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I finished Fury (New Species, #1) by Laurann Dohner this weekend. It was just an okay read. I feel that some parts are just too 'cheesy' for my taste. I give it 3 stars.

message 638: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments Valerie,

I finished Gone, Gone, Gone today. Vi finished it a few days ago. Would love to chat about it with you when you are done. It was interesting, and the. 9/11 references resonated with me. I'm in NY and close to NYC. Totally related to the feelings of fear and loss.

Irina (reetu_416) | 504 comments I'll be reading Slade (New Species, #2) by Laurann Dohner

message 640: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I finished Chase in Shadow by Amy Lane yesterday and gave it 5 stars - the blurb didn't really convince me to read it, but a friend of mine had read it and given it a good review so I trusted her. It's a really intense story. DO NOT READ if mention of suicide, anorexia/bulimia or depression disturb you in any way. Especially the depression and attempted suicide plus the resulting therapy are described in much detail. But that's exactly what I loved about it, no 'magic healing' of mental problems by love or sex, it's a hard process and you can tell by reading this book.

message 641: by Tina "IRead2Escape" (last edited Aug 17, 2012 01:59PM) (new)

Tina "IRead2Escape" (tinar1121) | 1292 comments I finished Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2) by Kristen Ashley by Kristen Ashley on 8/2. This book was amazing! 5 stars!

See abreviated version of my review below. My full review can be found at

Sweet Dreams is book #2 in the amazing Colorado Mountain series. If you've not read Kristen Ashley..You have to! Her books are fabulous, her characters are real and so emotion provoking you will be a wreck reading them.

This book has it all...a hot, hot, hot (did I mention he's hot?) male lead, a female lead who makes you love her from the second you meet her, awesome love scenes, all kinds of crazy ass drama and a serial killer that needs to be stopped.

My only warning is that these books could ruin you for all other books. Kristen Ashley writes "real" men. They don't tiptoe around a girls feelings, they tell it like it is and they don't check their language, but they are protective and amazing mates. The problem is when you read a different book the men just don't seem manly enough. If only everyone had problems like these :)

message 642: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I managed to finish John Dies at the End by David Wong today (that was close to deadline). 3 stars and only because first 20% of book were great, after that it gets gross and boring.

message 643: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 4260 comments I read both Fury (New Species, #1) by Laurann Dohner and Slade (New Species, #2) by Laurann Dohner on 21 August and gave them both 4 stars. Whilst the series is very similiar to Lora Leigh's Breeds, there were some differences, and I enjoy both series for what they are.

message 644: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2736 comments Sorry, forgot to update. I finished Gone, Gone, Gone on 7 Aug. I rated it 3 1/2 stars. I did feel that the book captured the feeling post 9/11 but I did want the relationship between the main characters to be handled differently. I felt the relationship was a little bit unequal.
