Jane (PS) | 24015 comments How sad that the world is coming to this! Sad that ppl have to think like this, and sad that a decent person can't go about their business without suspicion.

...I know that my niece has been spied on at the beach (where she is a life-saver). Other lifeguards went to check him out but the bloke ran.

Barbara ★ | 3880 comments I'm finally going to be forced to read Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward . I've had it forever and though I absolutely love this series, keep stalling.

message 253: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 1099 comments My imaginary boyfriend, James Marsters, is just about finished reading Book 5 of the Dresden series to me so I'll just glom right on to book 6: Blood Rites

message 254: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments and yet my library has a sign on the door that says, as a reminder, if your children are still here when we close, they will be taken to the local police department, so make sure you knwo our hours...

message 255: by Sheila (last edited Feb 16, 2011 12:14AM) (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Wow Dee are you kidding? That is like saying if you don't watch your kids they will be eaten by the library trolls. Ha!

message 256: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments nope...its on the front door as you walk into the library...there is also a cop stationed there from about 4pm until close

message 257: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments realized I needed a poetry book for another challenge so I picked up A Light In the Attic - its been a few years (ok, a long time) since i've read Silverstein, but the poems were cute and funny...I can't believe this book has actually shown up on several banned book lists (I guess the poem about breaking dishes encourages children to rebel against their parents)

message 258: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) I finished A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein on 2/16.

message 259: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments note to self - take a picture of the sign at the library about the police station...its too funny not to - I guess there are worse places you can drop your kids off at right?

message 260: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments Lucky police - a horde of screaming kids at 5pm each day!

LOL, Dee! When you take the pic, please post it here.

message 262: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Probably the library treated all those children to Kool-Aide and chocolate too so that by 5 pm - EEEK!

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments Sheila wrote: "Probably the library treated all those children to Kool-Aide and chocolate too so that by 5 pm - EEEK!"

LOL!

I thought there was a rule of no food or drinks in the library?!

message 264: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Not in my library, they have a coffeeshop on site.

message 265: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments Wow - How lovely! Wish that was my local library - you wouldn't get rid of me!

message 266: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments I finished A Light in the Attic today. My daughter and I read a lot of it together - she loves funny books and poetry so she really got a kick out of this one. Especially the poem about the babysitter that took her job too literally and sat on the baby.

message 267: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments We had a coffee shop at our library. Often, I would take the kids in for a treat after looking at books. Sadly, the shop closed due to slow business. My daughter (6) asked me if the shop closed because we didn't go there enough!

message 268: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments ALL your fault Sandy!! LOL.

message 269: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments aww...that's cute!

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Jane (PS) wrote: "Wow - How lovely! Wish that was my local library - you wouldn't get rid of me!"

Ah, but then your children would have to pick you up at the police station. No. Wait. That's wrong ... LOL.

message 271: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) that is right Daffodil but would they?

message 272: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments LOL - it would have to be my dog!

...Maybe it isn't a totally bad place to hang out - there would have to be some interesting things happening there, wouldn't there? - plus I could play with the other library kids!

message 273: by Gen (new)

Gen (gen454) | 282 comments I finished Reading Between the Lines by Lauren Dane and I gave it ★★.

It was OK. I thought there was too many characters for such a short book, but I loved the "I want revenge against the psycho fae witch who cursed my mate because she couldn't have him" plot.

message 274: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments Yz, don't forget about me! I am kind of getting a complex. I finished A Light in The Attic on 2/17.

Sorry. I missed the first post. Got distracted with all the talk about the library's children section. :)

Thanks for the heads-up.

message 276: by ~Sara~ (new)

~Sara~ | 667 comments I finished Summer Knight (2/26****) and I loved it!!! This series keeps getting better and better for me and I can't wait to get to the next one!

message 277: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (vanessamc) | 394 comments For list 16, I'll read The Dark Highlander

message 278: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (vanessamc) | 394 comments Oops, I've already read the Dark Highlander, so I'll skip this list.

message 279: by Lynne (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments I'm in. I'll read Lover Mine.

message 280: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm in, a little bit late with the post, i didn't know which book i'll be able to get at the library. (: I'll be reading The Shack. (:

message 281: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments Finished Lover Avenged today. It was good but not great. 3 stars. I feel a bit disconnected from this series now... But I'll read Lover Mine sometime soon 'cos I have it waiting...

message 282: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 141 comments I read A Caress of Twilight. I liked it better then the first book, but I didn't love it. Maybe I'll check out the next one.

message 283: by Miss (new)

Miss | 330 comments Finished The Dark Highlander, 03/13, 3 stars, liked it but it didn't hold my interest. The hero was yummy, but the heroine was in denial for much of the book and it got frustrating, then they suddenly got all gooey in love. I wasn't in the mood for the love at first sight, mated forever lovestory, I guess I wanted something that felt more real. Her Fever series is heaps better.

message 284: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 1099 comments I switched my book because I'm not going to finish the audio of Blood Rites in time.

So I read Reading Between the Lines by Lauren Dane. I finished it this morning, March 14. I gave it 3*s. It was good and reminded me that I like Lauren Dane's writing but the ending felt rushed which took away a little bit for me.

message 285: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 15, 2011 03:17PM) (new)

It one hour to midnight and yaaaay for me, I was able to finish The Shack (it's 3/15). I gave it 3*. It is a good book and I was thinking of even giving it 4, but from time to time the story just drops, it gets repetative. Otherwise a good theme, idea, writing is fluent and the author has a humour that's close to me. (: Worth reading for sure.

Barbara ★ | 3880 comments Just in the nick of time, 11:45 pm to be exact. I finally finished Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward and what a fabulous book. It was heartbreaking and romantic at the same time. I never know why I wait so long to read another Brother book.

message 298: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 738 comments I'm going to re-read Naked in Death. I think I have the audiobook of it. I like to listen to a book after I have read it to see what the narrator does with it. This is a great series I love it.

message 299: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 1099 comments I finished The Renegade Hunter (Rogue Hunter, #3) on 3/22/11. I love the Argeneau series when I need a break from angstier reads and this one was no different.

message 300: by Amanda (new)

Amanda D. (tinyminx) | 634 comments Finished Naked in Death tonight. Looooved it! And you're definitely right, Yz, Roarke is yummy. I look forward to seeing him throughout the rest of the series.
