Nina Sankovitch's book sounds interesting, I'll have to take a look at it. I can count on one hand the number of books I've read in one day. I'm a pretty slow reader myself.

Delia (deedreams) | 8 comments The vampire diaries. I've read two of them in one day. so good.

message 103: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Recently I read one of the Night Huntress books- One Foot in the Grave in a day. Bones is so yummy! It's easy to devour him in a day and go back the next day for more. ;)

Oh, you are so right about that, Jackie! Bones is incredibly sexy, gorgeous and witty, and I absolutely love his English accent and expressions.

message 105: by Julie (new)

Julie | 5 comments hmm, interesting question. There are many times I've read more 1 book a day; of course that'd be a day off from work :)...Last time would have to be when reading the Hathaway series by Lisa Kleypas; couldn't put them down

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 17 comments There are a lot of books I have read and had a hard time putting down!
Here are a few that I can remember off the top of my head:
The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder Beautiful Malice by Rebecca James Sean Griswold's Head by Lindsey Leavitt Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer

message 109: by Terrence (new)

Terrence | 7 comments Granted I was home sick with nothing better to do, but I was pretty proud of myself for finishing this in one-day back in elementary school:

Sphere by Michael Crichton

message 110: by Leah (new)

Leah | 13 comments I am a slow reader so it is unusual for me to complete a book in a day, however, I did polish off On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan in one day on holiday. It is quite short.

message 111: by Nancy (new)

Nancy The only ones that I remember reading in one day was The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller and Briar Rose by Jane Yolen. These are two of my favorite books now.

message 112: by Janina (new)

Janina (synchronizedreading) | 23 comments I've read alot of books in one day.
The majority of the books i've read have been in 1 day.
IDK i'm just a fast reader, always have been..

message 113: by Amy (new)

Amy My Story by Marilyn Monroe!

message 114: by [deleted user] (new)

It really depends on the book however , im a reletively fast reader and ussually read 2 or 3 books in a day. I think my highest was 9 and that was when i was twelve , and just sat on the couch reading all day! :) Those books were only small ( 300 pages or so) x

I'm reading Bloodfever, but can't say I've been compelled to read continuously.

Amazing sometimes, how different people's tastes can be.

So true how people have different tastes, that's why I think it's fun to see which books people have read in one day. I figure for the most part it's because they just couldn't put it down.

For myself I've read a ton of great books but with my schedule and family I don't have many opportunities to read during the day so my reading gets done at night.

Kate Bowyer (kate_bowyer) | 42 comments Jess wrote: "My first "cover to cover" was Where the Red Fern Grows, then Of Mice and Men and The Pony. I read slower now because I read for pleasure, but some works were just written to be read in one sitting"

I totally agree, for me I eat slow & read slow-both things I love :) But every once in a while a book comes along that I just need to read in one day. Of course the book really can't be longer than 300 pages-anything longer and it takes me more than one day.

:) I understood what you meant about 1 book a day-that would be quite a feat to read all 4 in one day. I think my head would explode!

message 121: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Lopes (rachellopes) I've read a lot of books in one day. For me, it's the best way to read, specially if you're into it.
But I do understand that are a lot of people who have tons to do, and thank God that for now I'm only in college and can do an all-nighter to finish a book.
I think the longest book I've ever read in one go was The Black Jewels Trilogy (Daughter of the Blood,Heir to the Shadows and Queen of Darkness) by Anne Bishop (there's a new edition where they put all three books in one huge book) -- I loved it so much, I've re-read them 'bout 5 times...I think...maybe 6

message 123: by Cary (new)

Cary (forestercary) LAst week, I was able to finish Hush, Hush overnight. It was an easy-read but I did not like the book that much

message 124: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (pg4003) | 148 comments I read this in less than a day: The Language of Flowers

Excellent book!

message 125: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) I read out loud, so although I'm a quick reader, it takes me a bit longer, since I'm not reading in my head.

message 126: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda | 4 comments Wendy and the Lost Boys by Julie Salamon
This was such a satisfying read. She is a huge talent, but despite her celebrity, the public had no idea about who she really was. What a great way to spend a day during a hurricane! I just noticed there's a giveaway for this book at new york journal of books. I would get this one, if you can't buy it, maybe you can win it. Here's the link:

message 127: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Healy (majessticon) The Ogre Downstairs by Diana Wynne Jones

Maybe it's cheating because it's a kids book, and therefore short enough and easy to read? But I read it today and I really enjoyed it.

message 128: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Flores (sandramaria) | 5 comments I'm a rather fast reader, I've finished a few in one day, the most remarkable for me were: The Tunnel (Ernesto Sábato), Metamorphosis (Franz Kafka), El hombre que lo tenía todo todo todo (Miguel Ángel Asturias) and Pet Sematary (Stephen King) which is BTW the reason why I won't read another horror book in my whole life.

I don't think that's cheating, is a book no matter the genre. I've read tons of children books, some of them in one day (Heidi, The reluctant dragon to name a few), that also counts as a one day reading :)

message 130: by Kate (new)

Kate Bowyer (kate_bowyer) | 42 comments I'm with Sandra, that it doesn't matter the genre, length or age group of the book. If you read it in one day than that's all that counts :)

Looks like some more really good reads on here, thanks everyone for sharing!

message 132: by Ena (new)

Ena (ena_reads) The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins
I've heard about it last month and decided to give it a try and well, I was instantly captivated. I found both the story and main character interesting (I don't read a book with a female protagonist unless the girl is strong and independent). I really enjoyed it and finished it in one day.

Cate (The Professional Fangirl) (chaostheory08) | 199 comments Guh, I wish there are more hours in the day for reading. I've read some books that would take me just a day if I didn't have work and other stuff to do lol.

ReadingDiva Book Reviews (readingdiva3) | 3 comments I tried reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in one day but I wasn't successful. It took me 2 days lol. But I read this one the other during my round trip work commute, Lust Money Murder by Mike Wells.

message 135: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (meeshsnova) | 1 comments I read Breaking Dawn in one day! I've read a few others but can't quite remember the names. Its been awhile

message 136: by Jessi (new)

Jessi | 39 comments When I was little and my mom would go shopping at Target or Kmart I'd run to the book section and grab a Babysitter's Club book or a Sweet Valley High/Twins & could finish those while she was shopping. I also could finish Nancy Drew books in one day as well. As an adult I sadly can't say I've finished a book in one day. Too much going on most of the time. I have finished almost nearly all Nicholas Sparks books & a couple Danielle Steel's but not entirely. The last Harry Potter book I was up very late but ended up passing out with about a hundred pages still left to go.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 17 comments Recently I have read the Study series by Maria V. Synder. I think I read each book in one day, they were just that good!

There are three short stories that go with them as well.

Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder Assassin Study (Study, #1.5) by Maria V. Snyder Magic Study (Study, #2) by Maria V. Snyder Fire Study (Study, #3) by Maria V. Snyder Power Study (Study, #3.5) by Maria V. Snyder Ice Study (Study, #4) by Maria V. Snyder

message 138: by Will (new)

Will Todd This one's easy:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

"HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS"

I was so "deathly" afraid someone would spoil it for me that I, like millions of others, powered through in less than 24 hours.

The truth is, I kind of regret it. It may have intensified the experience, but it also, ironically, diluted it a bit. By which I mean, it was intense to feel the need to read quickly...

...but my retention and, more importantly, enjoyment may have suffered as a result.

I blame Voldemort!

Todd

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 125 comments Oh dear! Most books! If I'm interested then I just can't put it down. I can't read at night any more because when I try a do the sencible thing and turn the light out to go to sleep I lay there wondering whats going to happen next! Finishing a book at 3.00 am is all very well until you have to get up a few hours later!!! And I am NOT a morning person at the best of times!

message 140: by Lina (new)

Lina My friend borrowed me The Hunger Games a few months back, and I simply couldn't stop reading until I finished it. I even asked my parents for permission to read it during dinner. :p

message 142: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey (jeff_nardecchia) Last book I read in one day was "The Professor and the Madman". Great read.

message 143: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (battlejess) My mom used to get so frustrated with me when I was a kid. She'd buy me a new book and I'd be finished reading it by that evening. She was firmly of the opinion that books should be enjoyed over a longer period of time.

The only time I've managed to finish a book that quickly in several years was when I read The Hunger Games. I finished the whole series in one weekend. Most of the books I read now are several hundred pages each, however, and take far longer for me to finish (my mother, I'm sure, would approve).

LOL. My mom used to get mad at me over the same thing. She would take me to the library every Saturday and limit the amount of books I could take out or else we would need a shopping cart for all the books I wanted to haul with me.

Haha, actually, they did. It was very nice of them! :)

message 147: by D.D. Chant (new)

message 148: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Lopes (rachellopes) I've just read The Darkest Surrender by Gena Showalter from her The Lord of the Underworld series. In 9 hours.

message 149: by Pete (new)

Pete Skimin (pjskimin) | 10 comments I've read quite a few books in one day. I have the advantage of working midnight's at a job where I can pretty much read 4-5 hours a night though. Most recent one's I can think of are Sabriel and Storm Front.

message 150: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) I used to read books like they were going out of fashion when I was a kid.

ALL of Willard Price's books were read in a day (and reread to heck until my parents got rid of them in the move when I was 13 :O) The same can be said of Christopher Pike books.

Now I can't really find the time to just sit down for an entire day to read a book, which is a shame :(
