Linda I'm so glad you understand! With how cold it is you'd think we'd have more snow but no!

message 502: by [deleted user] (new)

Ann I am sad not to have sun. We don't get much sun in the winter/fall ect here just cold wind.

message 503: by [deleted user] (new)

Angela: i'm in chi town too. It's so dang cold today. I think it's time for the winter coats & wool socks!

How about our home town teams going to the playoffs! I so want both to go to the world Series.

message 504: by [deleted user] (new)

Ken that is too funny but I think it's true! Palin most likely hasn't read anything.

One thing I can say about Palin is she is pretty cute. Beauty & no brains. Opps did I write that!

Side note: It's cold. I don't want to turn the heat on yet. Time to toss more blankets on the bed!

message 505: by [deleted user] (new)

This is totally gross! But my daughter just did a lab in science & discovered that McDonalds hamburger meat doesn't have any protein. She told me that her & lab partner asked the teacher if they did something wrong & e veryone in the class had the same results. The teacher has no clue what the "meat" is because any form of "meat" has protein. So disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 506: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Ken - I am with you, I can't wait for the debate tomorrow night. Popcorn is a Def. on this one.

message 508: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Gosh, Saved, this will be the first election for which you are eligible to vote. You gotta vote!

Ken - nice to hear your thoughts about the P-woman. I hope lots of men agree with you. Somebody can be cute, but if there's nothing behind the eyes, it's just YUK.

message 509: by Angela (new)

Angela | 1934 comments So who are you rooting for Emilee? The Cubs or Sox?

message 510: by She'Davia (new)

She'Davia Williams (redsoxocd) Emilee hopefully your rooting for the good guys (pst. the cubs). To me the White Sox are like the Yankees and the Cubs are the only team that looks good in Pinstripes.

I'm really pissed at Jason Bay right now...hasnt he ever heard of coming in hard for a ball falling fast. There's no excuse for not being able to catch the ball that let the RISP score. Now we're down 1-0.

CRAP.

message 511: by She'Davia (new)

She'Davia Williams (redsoxocd) Red sox take game 1. Its 1:35 AM and I'm waaaay to pumped to go to bed. That was an amazing game.

During the last 3 innings I had way to much adrenaline to sit still so I decided to organize and count my clothes. Here are my results:

*not counting anything in my locker or in the wash hamper

Tops
Tanks/Spaghetti/tube tops: 17
Short Sleeved shirts: 36
Long/Half Sleeved shirts: 21
Dress shirts: 6
Red Sox: 9? (Where the hell are my shirts?!)
Shirts that can only be worn when I am sick or about-to-drop-dead-tired: 9
Sweaters: 3
Jackets/vest/things to be worn over shirts: 10

Bottoms

Pants plus 2 sweats (red sox sweats so I can wear them as regular pants): 31
Shorts/Capris: 3
Skirts: 5
Dresses: 3
Sweats (only to be worn to bed or gym): 6

I'm still pumped so I have no idea how I'm going to be expected to get up for school in 4 hours, and take tests in latin, history, and english. Damn...

I LOVE THE RED SOX. Manny Who?!

message 512: by [deleted user] (new)

Angela: Cubs all the way! How about you?

message 513: by [deleted user] (new)

Ken: That's good to hear!

message 514: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 501 comments Go Cubs Go! Both my kids are Sox fans! I don't know what's wrong with them!

message 515: by [deleted user] (new)

Help them find the light! My son liked the Sox a while a go but my suttle hints changed his ways. It helps that I only buy him Cubs gear! Plus we live on the Cubs side of town hard to find Sox stuff!

The game starts in 9 mins! GO CUBBIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 516: by Angela (new)

Angela | 1934 comments Actually I am a fan of the Sox... I really do not watch a lot of sports, but I was really excited when they won in 05!

message 517: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments I am watching the VP debate. They are both doing pretty good.

message 518: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I was surprised at how well Palin did, but my expectations for her were much lower than for what I expected from Biden.

message 519: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Biden was awesome. Palin was better than I expected, but still not doing very well.

message 520: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments I agree Laura and Emma Palin did better than I expected.

message 521: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 501 comments Emilee, I live in a northern suburb of chicago so I basically live on the Cubs side too. Somehow my oldest son became a Sox fan and then influenced my younger son. I only buy Cubs stuff too. Other people have bought my sons their Sox gear. In fact yesterday my youngest son left his Sox shirt at school and I'm secrectly hoping someone took it! Mean mommy!

message 522: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow, sports and politics - one I know little about, and the other, I wish I knew less about.

Here's a random though; my son seems to think that lions and tigers are the same animal. From what I could glean, he thinks that the tigers are the females, lions the males. I tried to explain it to him, but I don't think he was convinced.

message 523: by [deleted user] (new)

She'Davia...have you ever PLAYED baseball? Just curious as to why you would critcize Bay for making a judgement call. I know having played outfield (and still playing) for some 18 years that sometimes you just gotta let 'em drop.

Palin did better than I expected, too. That's because I expected her to be absolutely speechless. Instead she managed to ramble incoherently without stammering. For instance on saying that man has not caused climate change, yet she wants to solve the problem of climate change. I'm just curious, if we think climate change is due to cyclical temperature changes then why must we do anything to solve the problem. So what if she did better than expected if she is utterly not prepared or qualified to do the job?

message 524: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) Hi guys! I haven't posted in a long while, but I must agree with Jeremy with the fact that I don't understand how people can say Palin did better than expected ... what did people expect barking? meowing?

I have no political affiliations but a candidate that stands in a debate and answers no questions but instead just stands there and "vomits" little bits and pieces with a fake smile she memorized on some camp gets no respect from me. Out of all the smart, capable woman out there ... that is what we get? Shame, Shame, Shame...

message 525: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 1128 comments This thread just took a turn for the interesting.

message 526: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Well, I guess not barking & meowing but something close. I guess I expected more of what we saw in the Katie Couric interviews, but then those questions were more the types of Q's that couldn't be rehearsed, whereas Gwen Ifill (sp?) 's questions for the most part were ones that she already had her pre-rehearsed, canned answers for. If she had no answer, then she fell back on energy & what she did in Alaska. If you deleted all of the "also"s and the "maverick"s, though, I bet it would have cut her speaking time in half!

message 527: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) ;o)

And please could someone tell her that there is no Nucular Energy ... is NUCLEAR dear, nuclear.

message 528: by [deleted user] (new)

Beth i'm with you there! i wish they would get their game on! Dang!

As far as the debates. I got side tracked by playing monoply w/my kids. missed the cubs game & debate.

If Palin spoke in proper English without acting like an animal with the drooling, licking ect then she did do better then expected- oh did i type that!

message 529: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Yeah, the folksy "betcha" "Joe 6 pack" "hockey mom" stuff .... YUK We need intelligence in the White House. Above all, intelligence. Please, people.

message 530: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) Laura - I agree, we have had below average intelligence in the White House for far too long, I'm ready for above average any day now. I want to feel proud of our President when he makes a speach, I want to feel good about our economy, about the impact we have in the environment ... I so desire change.

message 531: by [deleted user] (new)

And on top of everything else, what does this statement reveal?

"I'm thankful the Constitution would allow a bit more authority given to the vice president if that vice president so chose to exert it in working with the Senate and making sure that we are supportive of the president's policies and making sure too that our president understands what our strengths are. "

message 532: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Did anyone else get a chill down their spine hearing that? That woman is just plain scary, when she's not extremely irritating with her Joe 6 pack, hockey mom bs. I had the most incredible desire to reach through my tv screen and choke the empty smile from her face.

message 533: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 501 comments You're right, Sherry. Palin is scary! Ok, I know we're not supposed to talk politics but I can't help it--that woman makes my blood boil. Everytime I see her grinning face my blood pressures goes up!

message 534: by Jen (new)

Jen | 278 comments Honestly, I can't even take her seriously anymore. She spent all that time in "debate camp" sheltered from the media, and that is all that she could come up with? What upsets me the most is the amount of people who feel like she is just what this country needs. She's a nut job!

Lorena, the nucular vs. nuclear thing was killing me! Granted it was only trumped by the fact that she was not able to name a single Supreme Court case that she disagreed with outside of Roe v. Wade. I expect a little more of my leaders.

I don't get it. I just don't get it.

message 535: by [deleted user] (new)

From one blogger:

"The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader squad demands more insight and intelligence in its women than Palin has shown. If you watch the tryouts on CMT, they interview about current events (with no notes and no advance warning of subjects, Sarah) and randomly ask about what is happening in the world at other times. If a woman comes across as an airhead, she is gone, because they want attractive women who can dance AND have an intelligent conversation with important people that they are bound to meet in their travels."

message 536: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) I just hope this kind of discussion its taken place in more and more places, blogs, etc. People need to raise their standards not be happy someone wasn't "as bad as expected".

message 537: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Oh she def. scares the crap outta me. It's like a friend of mine said - if they win, it'll be like living in the land of Oz:

If I only had a brain (Palin)
If I only had a heart (same)
If I only had some courage (McCain)

Oh, I almost forgot - pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!!

message 538: by Ann from S.C. (new)
