thats the reason why Jace loves here she really is something and SHE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS

So who does he f..."
Clary is beautiful is Jace's eyes. Just because she's not a tall, long legged Isabelle-like girl doesn't mean she isn't pretty. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder IMO. This is coming from a girl whose been told she looks too young and is only a little taller than Clary!
Carly wrote: "the problem with clary is she doesn't compare to people like Katniss (The Hunger Games). Clary is so wimpy"
Nut you have to remember, Clary didn't grow up the way Katniss did. Katniss learned from day one to kill or be killed. Clary grew up as a normal human girl, just like the rest of us. Could you do what Katniss did in THG? Probably not (that's a good thing, not an insult) and I know I certainly couldn't. I agree with Evelyn, I happen to love Clary and I think she has some great qualities. Besides, Katniss always came off as a little too brutal to me. I know I sound lik eI'm contradicting myself now, but I just mean as I was reading THG I thought she was a little to quick to kill and didn't seem at all contrite about the fact that she had just murdered another teenager.
I like Simon just fine. I never really saw him as a contender for Clary's affections, more of a distraction than anything, but I still like him.

Agreed 100%. Simon was never a threat to the Jace/Clary romance for me.
Exactly :). Maybe that's why I like him, because I can see him as a character, rather than a threat.
Incidentally, I've been thinking about something recently, in the realms of double-standards. When I read Jace's 'passionate embrace', my heart fell and I just felt like Clary, like I'd been slapped in the face. But when Clary was kissing Simon (and I bet they were making out a lot longer than Jace and Aline, even though a few of Aline's buttons were undone) I didn't even really think about it. In fact, I thought it was kind of cute the way she described kissing Simon; "It was a gentle sort of pleasant, like lying in a hammock on a summer day with a book and a glass of lemonade." It’s weird how I was totally okay with that, but heartbroken over Jace and Aline. But I think the main reason for that is because with Clary, you knew 100% that she only wanted Jace because a big portion of the book is told from her perspective. Jace was a little more mysterious. I knew Jace wanted Clary, but I guess, since you didn’t get to see as much of the book (emotions-wise) from his perspective, it was hard to really make sense of his motives.
Oh, and I was so aggravated the first time I read CoG, and Simon noticed Jace playing with Aline’s fingers right after they got to Idris. Maybe I’m just too tender-hearted, but when I read that, I kept thinking, “You bastard. What about Clary? even though I *knew* he wasn’t really supposed to be thinking about Clary (at least not while he thought they were related :P. It all worked out, though . . . for now.

Sometimes I think the reason why it seems so much more harsh when a guy cheats (not that Jace technically cheated) is because in a lot of cases (not all - don't jump on me for being stereotypical), the guy is already thinking two steps ahead to how he's going to move the train along further...whereas a girl -especially one like Clary that hasn't had a lot of boyfriends/sexual experiences yet- might be happy just focusing on the simplicity and joy of the present moment.
*edit* Yes, we found out after the fact that Jace wasn't really wanting to hook up with that other girl, but upon first reading the scene where he had unbuttoned her shirt, none of us really knew where his head was and many of us probably jumped to conclusions.

For me, I felt the same way. Angry over Jace's "betrayal" and fine with Simon and Clary. But mostly it's because they had just found out they were brother and sister and I knew she'd get together with Simon after that had happened. I knew he'd be her distraction until Jace and Clary worked things out.
But when Jace hooked up with Aline in CoG I was stunned b/c I had not seen it coming AT ALL.

i think that depends on who u relate/like because it was the same for me but backword i was upset when clary was with Simon but i was laughing when the whole aline jace thing took place i really knew that Jace loved Clary above all else hes never even liked anyone else Clary seemed to really want it to work with Simon i new Jace was just Jace
i joined this group JUST so i could diss simon. ok, here goes.
I hated him from the start. Like, my friend was all like, "he's funny!" and I just wanted to barf. Like the first words that came out of his mouth and I was done with him. And Jace came along and of COURSE I fell in love with him. And of COURSE Clary should be with him, duh! But, no.
And then he goes and dies and I stopped reading the book, and said a little thank you to Miss Cassandra when whaddya know, he's back again! And Clary's all "yay!" about that and Jace is jealous and I'm going, "I'm still here Jace!!"
And as you know Simon gets himself 95% dead and then he pops back up and Clary is all, "yippee!" and by now I'm starting to get a little bored. XD

my pic and ur pic should go out

I adore Jace and rooted for the relationship between him and Clary simply because it meant more reading time centered on Jace, but ..."
Haha, I agree completely. Clary is pretty annoying. Definitely a Mary Sue. >_<
Ahhh this topic is so old. I actually love Simon now, too. After I read the series three times I changed my mind. :D ... Although, of course, I am still Team Jace.

And Clary is not a mary-sue she is quite awesome in my opinion she's a very strong character

when i first read CoB i though he wasnt gonna be important but when clary told him about everything in lukes backyard im like WHY DOES THIS CHARACTER EVEN EXIST?
ugh so no you dont stand alone, i dont think anybody hates him more than i do. i cant believe Cassandra Clare said he was one of her favorites character to write about & the 4th book will also center on him. I AM NOT READING IT.
he should have stayed as an annoying mundane & everybody would have been happy. but no.....! im just waiting for when he dies (he already did in the world of my mind)

OMG. You hate Jace?! You're the first person I know who hates Jace! Why? Why do you hate him? Gosh, I'm so curious. XD I wonder what it's like from a Jace-Hater point of view.

(:(:(:greenplanet:):):)

But.....I LOVE Jace more!!

But.....I LOVE Jace more!!"
well, maybe he's getting the shaft through all 4 books. ;)

I've always hated Clary since I read CoA and always loved Simon from the first chapter in CoB

jace= luv him cos he's sarcastic/intese and caring
alec= had a huge crush on
izzy= thought she was a cow but really like her now
clary= think she's awesome, she's my fave girl character
simon= love him, reminds me of... well, me and love how he's a vampire
maia= like her alot :) she's kooool
jordan(kyle)= thought he sounded hot and think he deffinitly deserves maia
jocylen= thought she was controlling, but for good reasons
luke= he's pure awesome in a flannel shirt
valentine= hate him
sebastian= hothothot but evil which somehow makes him even hotter
yeah just casually giving my opinion on characters :)
So who does he fall for? He falls for someone that looks like a little girl, fights like a little girl, and doesn't really have any great or distinctive qualities about her other than she's loyal to her friends/family.
People would say : But...but...she showed him love when no one else did! True, I'll give you that, but he was into her way before this happened. He was chasing her down pretty much right after he met her.
I just want my heroines to have "something". An "it" factor if you will. If the girl isn't attractive she needs to be badass. If she's not attractive or badass, she needs to have talents or standout qualities.
