I'm currently going through a short story phase so I'm going to nominate Albert Camus' Exile and the Kingdom.

Hmm.. Not sure about that particular Lessing - not into outer space and such like. Could live with Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter, it seems to be one of his more popular novels. Thanks Elizabeth.

I love this group-thanks for introducing me to these books. I have read "Independent People" as my ancesters were Icelandic and I speak the language. In fact I think of the Icelandic pronounciation of David when I see the Welsh -Dafydd-it is "DAV-EED" I have almost all of Lessings books so love a new author. Inga
