Dawn (breakofdawn) You guys are insane.

63/100 :P

Valerie (versusthesiren) | 357 comments 50/70.

Now I'm in a rut. I seem to be only in the mood for light, bite-sized, quick reads, but I'm trying to slog through three more literary/darker books instead and it's just. not. working. D:

message 53: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I'm at 107/150.

Valerie, I'm with you. I have three books on the go, and I can't get excited about any of them :(

I'm thinking I might raise it again soon.

I've been having an issue with all the dark fantasy I've been reading lately so I've switched to romances and really easy re-reads.

message 55: by Traci (new)

Traci I should be able to hit 100 this year. Wasn't sure. Started in Feb. and thought that might have started me in a hole. Then some of the books I've been reading are huge! I wonder how many I used to read before I got online.

82/100 (I think)
I keep raising mine too.

Valerie (versusthesiren) | 357 comments Hit seventy today! \o/

How's everyone else doing?

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

4 books behind. 101/125.

carol. | 2616 comments You know, it's interesting to read these last few comments--I've had times when I have that lack of excitement as well. I never thought of myself as not wanting to read, but since joining GR and branching out to all sorts of new authors, I find there are times I don't feel like stretching my literary wings at all. I went back and dug up a couple of teenage reads I remembered liking and I'm really enjoying re-discovering them--it's kind of got me jazzed up again-- The Chronicles of Mavin Manyshaped (#1-3) by Sheri S. Tepper . And Blackout (Cal Leandros, #6) by Rob Thurman . I've needed to keep to shorter reads because I have so much school reading.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) I'm on 98/100 - so I'll definitely go past this year's goal. This pleases me - I can use those few extra books against the naysayers who might think that certain things, like the GNs on my list, shouldn't count. ;)

message 60: by Traci (new)

Traci Been stuck at 101 for three weeks because I was rereading books I read earlier in the year. I feel like such a slacker...

message 61: by Danielle The Book Huntress (last edited Nov 04, 2011 06:15AM) (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I'm about five books from my goal--235/240. Like Colleen, I am excited that I'm going to get over my goal. I think that the audiobooks are a definite help. I'm getting more than ten hours more reading time in just by reading books on my commute.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Traci, there is discussion on the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Feedback books about enabling the system to count rereads separately. I think that would be ideal. I have done a few rereads this year, and it sucks that they don't count.

message 63: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 730 comments I am 6 books behind...My big problem is this Malazan reread sucking up a lot of time!

So although I am definitely reading more than I have in other years, I am not keeping up! I will need to read a couple really short books soon!

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) You could use that annoying workaround by adding different editions of the books you're rereading to get them to count towards the challenge, if you really wanted to count them.

Or you could count them manually and just add them into your official goodreads tally. I think that's what I would do.

message 65: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I haven't been counting my re-reads...too much trouble.

I've really found myself adrift re:reading since my poppa died. The amount I've read has gone down a lot. Yet I find myself looking for those comfort reads that I've hot already this year...thus no new books lately.

eh. I'm about 13 books ahead to hit my goal (147/160) and I think I'll hit that but not really go over.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) **Hugs, MrsJ. **

message 67: by Temi (new)

Temi (temisol) | 39 comments Sorry about your poppa MrsJ :( Slow & steady healing. Those romances and light hearted reads sound like a plan *hugs*

message 68: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) I'm sorry to hear that you lost your poppa. *Hugs*

message 69: by Stuart (last edited Nov 04, 2011 11:50AM) (new)

Stuart (asfus) | 98 comments I will have to do a lot of reading, as I am only about half way through my challenge...

message 70: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 61 comments I managed to go a little over my challenge. I originally set it at 50, but lowered it to 41 when I got accepted to school. Now I've hit that goal and will probably finish a couple more before the year is out. I say probably because I haven't felt much like reading lately.

message 71: by Dustin (new)

Dustin OH, I gave up on that a LONG time ago...

message 72: by carol. , Senor Crabbypants (new)

carol. | 2616 comments I thought I was lagging behind... until it turned out I didn't always select "date read" and left it blank (I work on my reviews for a few weeks sometimes). Now I have to go back through my reviewed list for this year and add dates. Sigh. But at least I met my challenge!

message 73: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Congratulations, Carol!!

message 74: by Scott (new)

Scott Marlowe (scottmarlowe) | 39 comments I set the bar somewhat low at 35 books, but then I blew through it. I'm currently at 41/35. I guess I might squeeze in one more before the end of the year. ;-)

message 75: by Kevin (new)

Kevin | 284 comments I was going to make it, but then Skyrim happened. :(

message 76: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 61 comments Haha... I can totally sympathize.

message 77: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) Yeah. That's what happened to me too. Skyrim.

message 78: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 61 comments Although I had already finished my goal by the time it came out. Now it's becoming a time suck. Luckily I only have access to it at the boyfriend's place and I don't usually read there anyway.

message 79: by S (new)

S Pearlyan (purplewidow) | 84 comments 15 books and 8 days to go.. I think I'll just 4 graphic novels a day and meet it. Surely, it won't be cheating.
