Dawn (breakofdawn) I would have LITERALLY died without them. That's right, LITERALLY. Not figuratively, LITERALLY. In all caps. I could feel my heart starting to slow down. It would have stopped! I needed them.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I'm sorry to hear about the store closing, Laurel.

I have bought quite a few books lately, which makes me glad that my book-buying restricting doesn't start until 9/1. :)

Oops! ;)

message 289: by Kevin (new)

message 290: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) I want Ready Player One!! I'm going to see Patrick Rothfuss and Ernest Cline do an author vs. author on the 27th of August. I neeeeeeed to get it and read it before then. I need to!

Have you tried Sparkpeople?

I use that and it's pretty good about reminding me. It has a place where you can track your foods, exercise, water, fruits, etc. Also it lets you build recipes, find recipes, enter foods that aren't there, build workout routines, track mileage (run, walk, and bike) and counts the calories eaten/burned for you. I like automated. There's a whole social part to it that I ignore but the rest of it is great. I used it when I was getting ready for my wedding and I lost about 3 inches around during that time. I stopped for almost a year but I started again.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Denae wrote: "It looks scarier than fitocracy...."

lol! You checked it out? I've never tried anything other than SparkPeople (and Loose it! but that's an app).

I love it because of the water counter. I am really bad about drinking water. I try my best but I'll just not drink anything (I don't drink soda often) and get dehydrated or something like that. I try to keep sparkpeople open during the day so that I stay reminded to drink water. (cause that bottle on my desk just gets ignored).

message 295: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) After I had the baby, I used Weight Watchers, and had a lot of success with it. It made it really easy to drop all of the weight.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) The other day I got dehydrated because I don't normally drink a lot of water at home, but it was really hot and I sweated like a liter at work. I actually had to drink an electrolyte solution because I felt sick. I had lost too much salt.

message 297: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I've never tried Weight Watchers...but I'm cheap and that cost money.

@Lady D- Wow! You need to be careful! Have you given thought to keeping a bottle of pedilite (sp?) at work or in your car?

message 298: by The Pirate Ghost (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) You don't have to pay to take advantage of weight watchers. Much or most of their stuff is availible free on line. It's about points. My wife, a very slender nubile, beautiful mynx when we were married, has had moments where she's not been comfortable with her weight. Weight Watchers has given her the best results for the longst time. (also backed up by ABC News).

anyway, weight/shape/image control is more often about a lifestyle change than specifically eating this or that.

message 299: by whimsicalmeerkat (new)

whimsicalmeerkat | 0 comments That it is, and neither scheduling nor that sort of self control are my strong points. Not sure it's even impulse control, so much as laziness and an adoration of cheese.

I read this thinking it was referring to TBR Mountains and I was very confused there for a minute. "Cheese?"

LOL
