The Ultimate Guide to Graphic Design
The Ultimate Guide to Graphic Design by Nik Rawlinson

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I picked up this book whenever I had free time and I didn't feel like reading anything in particular. I was really interested in graphic design 2-3 years ago; however, NOW, unfortunately, I have other hobbies prioritized that I no longer can have fun doing because of my tiring schedule.

Maybe I have extremely good taste, or maybe this book kind of sucked... but, MAN, the execution of the techniques mentioned is HORRIBLE sometimes and does not at all help someone who is interested in graphic design. "If I'm gonna end up with something THAT ugly, might as well give up." I may not be a professional, but I can manage executing things very well. Nevertheless, the techniques explained themselves are very helpful and aren't always mentioned in online tutorials. One thing worthy of praise is how this book managed to include basics that aren't obvious to most people who work with graphic design applications.

An interesting story. Piqued my interest in checking out the movie based on it (The Day the Earth Stood Still).

A lot better than Metro Girl. I love Felicia and Rosa. I wish we had more depth characterwise, and the slapstick violence was the same as the first book in the series, but, honestly, I wasn't expecting much this time anyway so this was fine.

Anthem
By Ayn Rand
Rating: 3/5

I very much disliked Ayn Rand's writing style (She can be a little pretentious here and there), but the idea and the message behind the book was pretty good.
Like any other writer who has lived during communist rule, the emphasis on individualism is very evident.
I was surprised that this novel was banned in the U.S.
