Seeing as there is just over a month left in the current Fall/Winter Challenge, I figured we may as well start asking for task ideas for the Spring/Summer one.

So, any fun ideas? Also give feedback on ideas that are posted so we can make sure popular ones make it to the challenge. Thanks!

Sashana Some ideas/suggestions:

And the award goes to...: Read a winner from the 2011 GR Choice Award.

Birth year: Read a book published the year you were born.

Spring Cleaning Reading: Read the book that has been on your Tbr shelf the longest.

Megan I really like these ideas. Here are a few that I liked from past challenges as well as a few new ones.

-To be Continued...- read 2 books in a series (it seems that I am always reading series)

-Earth Day- read a book about nature or the environment

-East Coast/West Coast- read a book set on the East Coast and one set on the West Coast

-April Showers Bring May Flowers- book with a flower in the title or on the cover

-1001 Books to Read Before You Die- reads a book from the 1001 Books Before You Die list

-Red, White, & Blue- read a book with all three colors on the cover in celebration of the 4th of July

-Cinco de Mayo- read a book set in Mexico, about a hispanic person, or hispanic heritage

Bianca (sugardustedbooks) Summer Loving - Read a book about a Summer Romance

Megan I like the ideas above of reading something from the year you are born, ripped from the headlines and something from 1001 books to read before you die.

Megan Some ideas:

Lost in Translation Read a book that was originally written in a language other than English

GoodReads Recommends Go to the recommendations page and choose a book recommended to you by Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ

Blind Date Read a book you have never heard of before

Out of Bounds Choose a book that has been banned somewhere at some point

We're all in this together Choose a book from someone else's challenge task list

Sashana's suggestion could be made into a two book challenge:

Now and ThenRead a book published in the year (or decade)you were born and then another published in 2012.

Sashana I do like the 'Now and Then' much better than my original suggestion, Megan.

abbey sophia (abbeysophia) | 55 comments I really like the aforementioned suggestions: "To Be Continued..." "1001 Books to Read Before You Die," and "Lost in Translation!"

One idea I have is closely related to Shashana's 'Spring Cleaning/Reading' idea.
I'll call it Let's Try That Again - read a book that you had on your to-read list for a previous challenge, but were not able to complete during that challenge. If this is your first challenge or if you have successfully completed each challenge you've engaged in, choose the book that's been on your TBR shelf the longest.

Bianca (sugardustedbooks) Spring Cleaning: Read a book that has been on your to-read list for a long time.

Megan A couple of two book challenge ideas -

Don't judge a book by its cover Choose a book with a cover image you particularly like and show the cover. Then choose one with a cover that does not entice you to read the book. Which book did you like the best?

The Long and the Short of it Read a book with one word in the title and then one with six or more words. - This one is kind of stealing from Nullifidian's idea of reading something with a one word title.

I also liked the random number generator to pick a book from your tbr shelf that is in the current challenge.

Keep them coming. I am not sure when the new challenge will be put together and start, I am insanely busy right now. But, we will have it up soon!

Only one week left on the Fall/winter one!

message 12: by Amber (new)

Amber (hippiefemme) I love all of the suggestions so far!

April Fools: Read a humorous non-fiction work.
Poisson d'Avril: Read a book about cultural traditions other than your own.
Shark Week: Read a book featuring sharks or shark-related events.

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 125 comments What about...

Take a Trip - read a book where the main character(s) is/are on vacation.

Hot and Cold - read a book that takes place in a hot climate, and one that takes place in a cold climate.

School's Out! - read a book about someone on summer vacation (or during the last month of school, like prom or something).

Honor thy Mother - Read a book your mom (or motherly figure) suggests you read, in honor of Mother's Day!

^ You can do the same thing for father's day.

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 125 comments Splish, splash - Read a book with water in the title, or on the cover.

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 125 comments Nullifidian, good idea. I hadn't thought of that. :)

Megan I like Jana's Take a Trip and Hot and Cold and Nullifidian's version of Honour Thy Mother. Amber's Poisson d'Avril sounds fun too.

Actually I like pretty much all the suggestions!

Megan Homestead Act of 1862- The Homestead Act was signed by President Lincoln in May 1862. Read a book about pioneers, homesteading, or 'going west'.

Bard Bash: In celebration of Shakespeare's Birthday on April 23rd, read something written by him, about him, or is somehow related to him or one of his plays.

Bianca (sugardustedbooks) So many good ideas. Can't wait to see the final list of tasks.
