and the source of endearment than you can dare endure.
We are Daimones, we are not men.
The end is nigh, of that we're sure.

We stole all decency from men,

We are Daimones, we are no men,
We kept Hell's gates open for Angels to enter.

Would you enjoy a novel that imagines what would happen to a MLB rookie pitcher who throws a fatal bean ball at the behest of his manager? If so, A PITCH FOR JUSTICE an e-book examines the national debate that rages about the inherent risks of baseball and the laws of society when a criminal investigation and prosecution for homicide ensues. Please also read the review by Tampa Tribune sports writer Robert D’Angelo.

Joseph Cognard (jcognard) | 18 comments Hi, I just published my second book. Right now it is for EBOOK (Nook and Kindle) only.
Hope you get a chance to check it out.

Billy is more than a little nervous. Even with all the excitement of his first kid only camp out, there is something truly bothering him. Listen to the fire crackle as the Miller children, in their campfire tradition, each tell a story. Will the fire last till Billy can fall asleep? Worse yet, what will happen when it is his turn to tell a story? Lastly, why won’t the fly and mosquito buzzing around the campfire leave him alone? Three unique and unpredictable stories, that both children and adults will all enjoy.

Chelsea | 14 comments Starbleached by Chelsea Gaither Not so much sci-fi as Space Opera

Silver Bullet (Exiles, #1) by Chelsea Gaither A collection of short stories. Mostly speculative, though there are two that are more "normal".

I've been writing a lot of short-ish things (under 30K) because they're easier to put out, and I think people might be more likely to take a risk on a newbie if the book is a weekend commitment and not, like, their whole week.

message 220: by Graham (new)

Graham Hughes I mentioned my ebook on the 'authors promote your books' thread a few weeks ago, but somehow missed this thread, so here goes (with apologies to anyone who's already read about in on there) ...

'A Devilish Pastime' looks at the history of all forms of football. This means 'football', in the generic sense: including soccer, rugby, American/Canadian football, Australian Rules, Gaelic football, and a range of lesser-known adaptations, hybrids and so on. It also looks at ball games that were played in ancient and medieval times, which these modern sports are descended from.

It's available in Kindle and epub formats, through Amazon, Smashwords, the Sony Reader Store, Kobo / Indigo / WH Smith, Barnes & Noble and Diesel (and possibly in the Apple ibooks catalogue, which I haven't been able to check).

In glamorous 18th Century Versailles someone is murdering the Jesters.

Noelle de Jouissance investigates the crimes and finds herself embroiled in the sex-mad Royal Family’s erotic secrets; her virginal sidekick, Desiree, is being pursued by the King's lecherous brother; the King is out to seduce the Queen and her Mistress, and the only clue to the suspect's identity is a tattoo on his scrotum...

A deliciously raunchy Historical satire: a funny, tongue-in-cheek take on the sexy shenanigans at Louis XV’s notoriously sinful Court.

Gary Nelson (garymnelson) | 5 comments Gazza's Guide to Practical Project Management

Available in paperback ()
and Kindle ()

Life is complicated. If we can simplify the job of getting things done, the better off we usually are. This is particularly important in managing projects. In this book, Gary (Gazza) tackles the complexity of managing projects by breaking the essential components of Project Management down into practical, simple concepts. Whether you simply have an interest in Project Management or are already managing them, this book has something for you.

For most people, we remember things best when they are accompanied by music, or are part of a story. While there is no musical score to this book, there are plenty of project management lessons wrapped in entertaining stories to help the concepts stick. Featuring popular episodes from Gazza's Corner blog and all-new content, this book addresses the four main stages of typical projects: Initiation/Planning, Execution, Closeout and Project Control.

What you will find in this book:
Learn about the importance of the Project Kickoff - and why you need a Monkey to help you through it.

Need to create a new Project Plan? Learn to write it as a story based on lessons learned from a famous author.

Writing requirements? Learn how to develop exceptional ones through lessons learned from Ice Cream - and the Spice Girls.

Implementing Organizational Change? Learn how to do it successfully by growing a Desert.

Learn about the essentials of Risk Management from a pocket umbrella in the heart of the Australian Desert.

You can't get there from here: tips on getting things done, in spite of it all.

A playful theory on the origin of writing - and why it is so important that we write stuff down.

Working with Virtual Teams or Volunteers? Read key lessons on working with both types of teams.

And many other topics.

From managing hundreds of small, concurrent projects to multi-year, multi-million dollar ventures, Gazza shares his 20+ years of experience and lessons learned to help you along the project management journey.

Chris Breedlove) (chrisstevenson) | 30 comments Welcome to THE WAR GATE, a paranormal romance/thriller.

...

Tag Line: Through a miraculous conception, Avalon Labrador must give birth to herself before she is executed, to solve her husband’s murder and her own wrongful conviction.

When the reincarnated Avy Labrador is kicked out of her stepfather’s house on her 18th birthday, she has no idea that the man who raised her framed her mother to cover his murder so he could acquire a major software empire. Now, years later, with the help of her magician boyfriend, Sebastian, Avy is about to discover that her birth was otherworldly and for a purpose. The ancient Roman God Janus was so appalled by the heinous murder of Tom Labrador by his brother Drake that he opened up a War Gate. Avy has received half of her mother’s soul light and half of a God’s essence. Her mission is to put the real killer behind bars. The only catch: she must learn to “Gate-Walk, that’s time traveling to the layman. She soon finds out that she is a drunk driver on the space/time continuum super highway.

“This was a solidly written tale with a trace of fantasy and complex thought used in defining the concept of leaping from one time gate to the next—excellent job of structuring.

Terrie G, Bitten by Books, 4 out of 5.

“The War Gate is a captivating book. Mystery, magic and the paranormal blend together in a perfect mix. I would thoroughly recommend this book to fantasy enthusiasts who also like romance.

Orcid, Aurora Reviews, 5 out of 5.

War Gate Author's Note: The antagonist character, Wax Man, is not for the squeamish. I warn you ahead of time that he is the most disgusting, vile creature/human you're ever likely to read about. Not for younger readers under 13.

How about a story, set during the American Civil War while the U.S. is in the thick of commemorating its Sesquicentennial or 150th anniversary(2011-2015)? Written for YAs, it's capturing the hearts of adults, and it's packed with adventure and a sprinkling of romance.
