Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 741 comments What is the Pick-It-For-Me Challenge?

The Pick-It-For-Me Challenge (PIFM) is a reading challenge where each participant gives and receives book recommendations based on a given a set of rules. The assignment method and book selection rules change each month so it’s always new and always different.

After signups are closed, I'll put your names and any extra info I’ve required into the super secret PIFM randomizer and select someone for you to choose for. This will get posted along with the rules for the month.

Whilst you're doing your picks, someone else is doing picks for you. Once you receive them, you pick a book off the list and get reading. To complete the challenge, you only have to read 1 (one) book but many of us end up reading more because we just can't resist a list of books to read.

In order to participate you need to either HAVE YOUR PROFILE SET TO PUBLIC (preferable), or make the person who will be giving you recommendations, your friend. On top of that, I strongly recommend keeping your bookshelves updated; otherwise you might end up with a recommendation that you have already read.

Everything gets done in this thread so be sure to come back often!!!

If you’re new please read the challenge specific FAQ. If you have any questions that are not addressed there, please feel free to ask!

IMPORTANT DATES
April 27th (4pm CDT)
- Sign ups close, matches made and rules posted

May 1st (4pm CDT) - Deadline for Recommendations and repicks are assigned.

May 31 - Deadline for reading your pick and giving some feedback on it

INFORMATION NEEDED TO SIGN UP
Please sign up in this thread with the answer to the following question:

**What are you giving your mother for Mother's Day...Candy, a Hug, Flowers, Something Else?**

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 741 comments Interesting Pieces of Information about our books and our Recs!

The most rec'd book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen with 10

Total number of different books rec'd: 668

Total number of different authors rec'd: 459

Author with the most individual books rec'd: Lisa Kleypas 11 different books (15 times)

Most rec'd author: Maya Banks 17 times!

Of course, if we combine Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb, we recommended her 23 times using 14 different books!

Here's our final stats:

62 people participated this month

52 completed the challenge and of those, 19 peeople read more than one of their recs!

Would it surprise you to know that Lisa Kleypas was the most read author this month? LOL Probably not since she was the most rec'd. We read her 4 times this month :)

Thank you so much for letting me host this! I enjoyed it :D

Sue (knitwitsl) | 226 comments I'm in, and I'm definitely giving her "something else." I'm making my mother a tote bag. She has a funky fetish with outhouses and behinds, and I found some material called "fruit bottom women" that has all of these ladies in bathing suits that look like their big bottoms are fruit! I know it sounds odd, but I really think she'll like it. I just have to find some lining material and buy the handles.
