Leslie | 95 comments What is holding your eyeballs attention? Also what is your favorite summer treat?

message 2: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 95 comments I'm still not reading the reserve books at the library. I'm reading , "In The Garden of Beasts," by Erik Larson. I think I can't read my library holds bc they are fiction. I'm having a hard time with fiction the past month. I am also still slowly re-reading, "The Passage," and finishing Cronins, "Mary and ONeil." I love strawberry shortcake or just strawberries!

message 3: by Carol (new)

Carol (actutor) I am reading Case Histories,so I am learning more about Jackson's background. One thing I like to do this time of year is read all of the Summer Reading lists. My To Be Read list gets longer and longer.

I love strawberries, but they have to be Jersey berries, and the season was too short. After that, I look forward to peaches and blueberries.

message 4: by Theresa (last edited Jun 06, 2012 11:56AM) (new)

Theresa I am reading Midnight in Peking: How the Murder of a Young Englishwoman Haunted the Last Days of Old China, which is nonfiction. I am also finishing up The Rope. After those I will move on to The Sense of an Ending.

Oh, mango ice cream screams summer.

message 5: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (caro7) I'm still reading Hannah's Dream. It's just ok. I like frozen yogurt the most in the summer. Coke Slurpees are my second choice.

message 6: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 95 comments Coke slurpees! Want one now. Those are my going to Target treat. Lol.

I wish my Target had them. They only have three flavors: cherry, orange, and blue raspberry. Yuck. At least 7-Eleven is always around the corner. :) You know what I wish they would make? Diet Coke ones. I have wondered for the longest time why they don't.

message 8: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 95 comments Me too. The regular ones are not weight watchers friendly :(

message 9: by Liz (new)

Liz I'm currently reading The Dressmaker: A Novel by Elizabeth Birkelund Oberbeck. I was looking for the one by Kate Alcott a month or two ago & our library system didn't have it yet so this one came up. When I read the description it sounded like it could be good so I thought I'd try it. So far, so good.

Watermelon is my biggest summer treat, but any fresh tree-ripened fruit is a close second. Oh, and root beer floats!

message 10: by Deborah Wells (last edited Jun 07, 2012 04:19PM) (new)

Deborah Wells I'm reading 11/22/63, the 12th Stephanie Plum novel, and "Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat", so it's a perfect time to ask about a favorite summer treat since I've been thinking about that.

I love mint chocolate chip ice cream.

message 11: by Sam (new)

Sam (ecowitch) | 157 comments I've just finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest and loved it and the series as a whole. I'm plodding through The Definitive Illustrated Guide To Fantasy and am going to start Five days of the ghost at lunchtime (17 minutes and counting). Planning to start Auschwitz: A Doctor's Eyewitness Account on the weekend (don't think it's going to be the most enjoyable read but I've heard it's worth it...)

message 12: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 67 comments I like gin and tonic in the summer

message 13: by Mary (new)

Mary | 236 comments I took a little reading break but have resumed DEFENDING JACOB. I love all the fresh fruits and veggies during the summer!

message 14: by Gretchen (last edited Jun 09, 2012 08:04AM) (new)

Gretchen (gkonkler5) I'm still working my way through The Passage think I'm going on my 4th week with it. I'm now 6 books behind my challenge. Gaaah!!

Favorite summer treat hmmmm
Air Conditioning

message 15: by Mary (new)

Mary | 236 comments Ah, yes! Air conditioning, of COURSE, Gretchen!

message 16: by Melki (new)

Melki I've had a busy week celebrating my oldest son. His 18th birthday was Monday, he graduated from high school on Wednesday, and we're having his party today...so it has been taking me way too long to read Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter and all the other titles I have boiling right now.

My current obsession is with Pretzel-Dipped Drumsticks and Edy's coconut bars.

(But I'll be having a gin and tonic tonight to unwind!)

message 17: by Kel (new)

Kel | 34 comments I am finishing The Luxe and just started Vanity Fair--wanted to see if Thackery did it better (so far, yes). I recently finished: Little Women Letters, Leviathan, Celebrity in Death, Wings and Vanish in Plain Sight. I LOVE summer reading time! I've got my 9-yr old hooked on the Three Investigators series.

My favorite summer-time treat is strawberry shortcake, followed by a Colorado Custard Company Volcano!

message 18: by Laurel (new)

Laurel (laureljean) I've just started The Marty Graw Book and finishing Dingley Falls.

Congratulations to your son. You deserve a gin and tonic. Those milestones are stressful.

message 20: by Melki (new)

Melki Thanks, Carol. I'm glad it's all over and life can return to normal - or what I call normal, anyway.

message 21: by Sandy (new)

Sandy (odamom) | 18 comments I started and finished Mockinjay. Other than that, I am finishing up I'm Sorry You Feel That Way and Olive Kitteridge. I like Olive Kitteridge the best.

Olive Kitteridge is one of my favorite novels of all time!

I have now finished I'm Sorry You Feel That Way and Olive Kitteridge.

I picked up a book at a sidewalk used book sale: She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. It promises to be quite good. It is about a female protagonist, which is interesting being written by a man. Can't wait to really dig in!
