I loved the book and I loved the movie. Although one thing always pops into my head when I see this movie. Don't you find strange that with the amount of incredibly talented British and American actors, there wouldn't be a need for US actors playing British characters and vice versa? Like in a recent Spiderman, I find it slightly irritating.

Brian I suspect it's partly to make movies more attractive in the USA, which is the principal, or more correctly, most lucrative market. What I find more annoying is the tendency to cast Brits as villains!

Courtney Eric Bana is actually an Australian, so at least he represented the British Empire haha.

I loved this book, however I disliked the movie very much. It was almost entirely about Anne, not the "Other" Boleyn girl which is what made this story so unique in the first place.

Regarding the choice of actors, it is so incredibly common for Americans to cast their own in the movie regardless of the origin of the character. I mean, we're talking about a race of people that used to cast white people in black make up or Asian make up rather than cast actors of the appropriate race. (Breakfast at Tiffany's is a good example). I think it has to do with budgets, and also attracting the American market with faces and talent already well known. Likewise, it may just be that these actors had the skills and the qualities the director was looking for and not have anything to do with their birthplace at all.

As far as British playing baddies, yes I have also noticed that is common, and I like to think it's because they have such a dark, exotic complexity they are able to do it with ease. lol. Not because they are actual baddies at heart ;o)

Lauren Conrad Because some actors are simply good actors with dialects coaches. It's annoying, but wouldn't you rather a perfect American playing, say, Elizabeth I than a horrible British actress?

Abby I personally don't think it's that big of a deal at all as long as they do the role well.

Alexia Wells The show isn't out yet so I don't know whether it will be good or bad, but I wonder about this Dracula show. It says Jonathan Rhys Myers is going to play an American in London. I love his accent it seems a shame to waste it. I don't see why Dracula has to be American especially if the show is going to take place in the UK. Will have to wait and see if it works.
