3.5 stars. I really enjoyed this and look forward to reading more from this author. Definitely more of a thriller in space than a true sci-fi, though I really loved Alpha (the AI) and the augmented reality elements.

Giving this a rating of only 3.25 stars breaks my heart a little bit after the heady intoxication of Dowry of Blood. I devoured (pun intended) that book, so I had very high expectations for this. But the mystery, rivalry, and characters all felt shallow to me. Neither Carmilla and Laura’s rivalry nor romance was built up, they were just petty and spiteful and then full of lust.
