I read a very dull children's adaptation of this when I was maybe eight years old, and I'm not a fan of the romance genre at all, so I didn't think this was a book I'd ever end up reading. Finally, after watching the the 2005 movie adaptation on a 19-hour plane ride with a paltry selection of films, I got curious enough about the source material to check this out from the library ...more
