It's one of those books that end up in a different place than it started. And that is a good thing. I learn a lot about lynching in America. Everett handled a topic that is rarely covered and hard to talk about smoothly with a compelling narrative. Great characters as well, who felt alive. ...more

it was amazing
Let's start with the basics. It is a very well-written book. The description of the protagonist coming upon the scene of her slain and injured sorority sisters is horrifying and emotionally moving. Knoll uses just the right amount of graphic detail without going overboard to show us how serial killers inflict real pain and torture their victims.
