this was such an incredible read! i loved everything about it—the world-building was rich and immersive, and the chemistry between the characters was beautiful. while i'm not huge fan of romance & slow-burn, it delivered perfectly, and the story had a perfect balance of tension, emotion, and action. it gave me everything i was hoping for and more. i couldn’t put it down and i am definitely going to explore more work from this author. ...more

i really struggled with intermezzo. i now know that rooney’s writing style doesn't resonate with me at all—it feels overly intellectual and pretentious, which just makes everything hard to enjoy (i'm leaving normal people out of this statement). the characters were flat and didn’t feel fleshed out, and i couldn’t connect with them. there were also moments in the story that felt completely inappropriate and unnecessary, which left me feeling uncom ...more
