The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi

Katherine’s first review of the year

A baseline primer on Israel - Palestine written from the POV of a Palestinian-American historian. A bit of a grind in the first half, but really picks up in the second half.

Any nonfiction book will bear traces of the author’s editorial hand, if only by dint of what they focus on more, less, and not at all; that’s especially true when covering 100 specific years in just 319 pages. I trust readers are intelligent enough to bear this in mind.

Be Ready When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten

Katherine’s last review of the year

If you’re coming to this because you’re interested in Ina as a cultural figure, not because you’re already a fan, I’m sorry to say this is more of a 2 star read than its 4.5 star average. That’s rounded up for the idea of an America enthralled by its first taste of frittata.
