As much as I respect and enjoy McBride's writing, I find myself counting down the pages until the end and planning my next read.

I am simultaneously entertained and bored, as well as impressed by the descriptions and sick of them.

During final exams for law school, I was on a book-purchasing, book-reading, book-anything ban. Once I finished my last final at 1:41pm yesterday, I immediately headed for a bookstore. Indeed, in the 36 hours since then, I have visited 6 bookstores, bought 9 books, and met 3 authors. It feels good to back. Here is to a summer of happy reading! Starting with this book!

Such a drag so far. A lot of pages were spent on (admittedly excellent) character development. Now those characters need to do something!

Given that I really shouldn't start a new book right now, I am going to reapply myself to this one. Bring on the snow and misery!

I gave up waiting for this one to come out in paperback. I had some great coupons and snagged the hardback for $12. Wohoo! Now it is going down. Where is Amy?!?

This book is time-framed oddly. The book starts with one scene and then flashes back for the next 80+ pages. I am finally back to the original scene, right where I wanted to be with dead bodies and cover-ups!

I am sorely tempted to put aside my schoolwork and read this instead. The memo is due tomorrow and 75% of my grade. Who cares? What happens to Fitz?!?

I am trying to push through the scientific and history bits about meteorology. And given that I am already 1/3 of the way through the book, I feel justified in asking when the blizzard is going to start for goodness sakes!

I smell a secret brewing. Figure it out, Jane!

Book is getting better, despite all the odds. Cannot wait for the hurricane to hit!

Could they possibly move any slower? One scene just drags on and on. They run, walk, run, walk for pages and never seem to get anywhere. They must be wading through molasses, I swear.

This book sorely needed a co-writer or more involved editor. Or both.

Definitely both.

Holy moly. I hope I have time to finish this book tonight. I have to know what happens!

Forget Oppenheimer for one second. His wife deserves a book of her own, if only to cover her four wildly different marriages.

Here is hoping that this is right book to see me through my first finals during law school. Interesting enough to escape into for a bit each night, but not so interesting I am distracted from studying.

The Lisa and Jaz storyline brings back happy memories of reading Franzen's novel, Freedom.

Proving to be much less boring than expected.

I would much rather be reading this than studying right now.

This book is surprisingly good. I may have found a hidden gem!

Brad Thor, I am issuing you a citation for illegally stopping your plot at multiple intersections in order to info-dump. As penalty, you owe me and all your readers a really great ending. If you fail to comply, I may burn your book.

Although I am enjoying the book at the moment, I predict disappointment by the end.

The loneliness of this main character is already heartbreaking.

I forgot I was enjoying this one before it got pushed aside for whatever reason. I am trying to immerse myself again in ancient Rome and get 'er done.

Crap. The narrator is nine years old. I obviously didn't vet this book very well.

I am trying to savor this ending.
