Grossman insists, even nearing the half way mark, on introducing several new characters with every chapter.

Some fantastically written sentences and passages, but so so baggy. I've heard it is far inferior to Life and Fate. Grossman seems to be introducing a new character, or even more than one, every single chapter. And the chapters are only a few pages long. At times a novel can feel heavily populated and therefore very alive, but in this case, I am starting feel frustrated and confused.

Left this in England while I was in Germany (would need an extra suitcase to pack it), but we're back now.

Very Malory so far (and not always for the best).
