Hi Shannon,
Nice to connect with you too! I'd say making sure you've research the agent to make sure they take the type of work that you write is a start. Second would be to follow their guidelines for submission (if you don't, it's a red flag) and write a professional query letter. And lastly, just write the best book you can write and don't get discouraged by rejection. So much of this is subject for the agent and when the right one comes along and says yes, it means they love your work. That's a great feeling. Good luck!

August 4th is the re-release of SHARE THE MOON, with a new cover and excerpts from the next two books in the series; Twelve Nights, a series novella, and Harvest Moon, book two of the series. What I'm currently working on is book three in the series--Bella Luna--due out in 2016. I'm also working on a new series taking place on coastal Connecticut with a comedic suspense angle.

Work hard at your craft and never, EVER, give up if you have hopes for publication. Writing well isn't easy, but a desire to learn and writing a little every single day puts your head in the game. Overtime, you will see how much you've grown as a writer.

Share the Moon came to me while my husband and I toured the Connecticut Wine Trail, one of the ways we enjoying seeing the small towns in this state. What started as a fun way to sample new wines and relax on a sunny Saturday got the creative juices flowing about a story...a writer never stops working! But the idea for life in a small town located on a lake came to me while at Hopkins Vineyards, located on beautiful Lake Waramaug in the northwestern part of the state.
