Hi Shannon,
Nice to connect with you too! I'd say making sure you've research the agent to make sure they take the type of work that you write is a start. Second would be to follow their guidelines for submission (if you don't, it's a red flag) and write a professional query letter. And lastly, just write the best book you can write and don't get discouraged by rejection. So much of this is subject for the agent and when the right one comes along and says yes, it means they love your work. That's a great feeling. Good luck!(less)

A little bit of Connecticut in Texas

This must be my month for all things Texas.

First, I stepped out the door of my Connecticut home at the end of September, boarded a plane, and landed in Austin, TX for a long overdue visit with my daughter.

I LOVE Austin. I love the adorable neighborhoods with bungalow style homes. I love the Congress Avenue “Bat Bridge. I love . I love BIG. FAT. DONUTS. Mostly, I

Yeah, it's not like it used to be (they don't make you stay up for 36 hours at a time, lol) but we still have call every four days and only one day off a week. I can't complain too much since the program I'm at treats their interns well, but I'm still dreading it a little. :P

Thanks and hope to see you again soon!

The computer is an amazing thing, huh? You meet all these great people. But it's so cool to actually meet face to face at some point. We're an easy going group so if you only showed up every so often nobody would care. Goo dluck with your intern year. Grueling I've heard? Is that still true?

I would love to join the group! I might not be able to make every meeting (since intern year will likely be grueling) but I hope to make as many as I can. :)

Terri and I actually met on Livejournal (I have a private blog there for my personal rants, lol) and we've been chatting through there for at least a year, I think. So it was great to meet her in person, finally. :) And it was great meeting all of you, too!

Hope to see you soon as well!

Best,
Linda

Sharon Struth Hi Linda,
I see we're now Twitter pals, too. It was great to meet you. I hope you decide to join our little group. We're a small but close knit bunch. I wish I could have stayed longer. Saturdays get busy. We usually end around 12:30 or 1:00.

I thought you and Terri had met in person before so that was quite a surprise. I LOVE Terri! Hope to see you soon.
Sharon
