When We Face the Unexpected

My little grandson was born prematurely in August. He finally came home last week but this morning my daughter called to say that early this morning he stopped breathing and they had to call 911. He was rushed to the local hospital and then transferred to a nearby children's hospital. He is ICU.

One brother in law starts dialysis this week. A former brother in law is in rehab after a liver transplant.

This isn't supposed to happen at Christmas. I have things to do. Packages to wrap. Decorations to put up. Baking to do. Parties to attend. Celebrations to enjoy. But real life happens on the way to Christmas. I am quite sure Mary and Joseph didn't expect what happened to them. They were unprepared for what the angel told them. Talk about an interruption! But in the midst of their questions and fears they trusted God. They obeyed God leaving the results to Him.

And their God is my God. And He is faithful to me in the midst of my questions, doubts, fears and anger - and the plans that go awry. God is real to me in those times too.

I'll keep you posted on my grandson. Thank you for your prayers.
