Crazytown

As my granddaughter(now 18)began her articlein a local paper recently:"It's official: we are living in Crazytown."
So swiftly did our normal routines changethat this new worldfeelsupside down.Crazytown.
We are hunkered downwearing and making maskswashing our handschecking in on others. We are cleaning closetsand drawers and files--our attempt to create orderin this disordered world.
But what treasures I have found in this cleaning and sorting:saved letters from students and teachersmost poignantmany humorousmost sincerein their love of a bookand its charactersand (as one student said)"the round comfort feel of it."
And I've unearthedsaved photos and drawings:generous giftsof spirit.
Crazytown, yes,but there are somebeautiful thingsinCrazytown.
Beaming you allsafety, healthand bountifulluverino.
xxYour author

So much . . .

So much dependsupon
yellow woodsand
a red canoe. . . .

(I intended to post this last month, but the month evaporated. The yellow leaves are now gone, but the red canoe remains.)

The Cloud Lifts

Sometimes you think you knowwhere you are in a storybut thena cloud descends

and you're no longer sure:
Is this the right setting? What's down there in that valley? What is going to happen? Why can't I see . . .?
You walk from one roomto the nextYou wash a dish or twoand then

The cloud lifts! It's a miracle. You know where you are.You know where you're going.
At least for the time being . . .

Land of Bloomability and Unfinished Angel, continued

If you continue past the Herman Hesse museum(see previous post)you will come to a stone archthat connects two buildings
a path leads you through the archand down a short slope
you round a curvethe trees partand thenyou seethis:

You can hardly believe your eyes.
You have to sit thereon a red benchand breathe deeply.
Such a world!
