Growing up in the Midwest, Brad Carl was influenced at an early age by the Hardy Boys book series written under the collective pseudonym, Franklin W. Dixon. Reading and writing would be a pastime of his for many years. Eventually, other aspects of his young adult life would begin to take precedent.

He still found time to read an occasional book from an author he enjoyed such as David Baldacci, James Patterson, or Clive Cussler. Finally, a few years ago, the creative bug bit Brad hard and he began to write again. Many of the manuscripts are still on a shelf or being worked on, including some short stories, a web series, and a sitcom pilot.

While not necessarily a lover of words especially not big ones Brad has always been fond of telling a

I, myself, am still an aspiring writer/author. I can tell you one thing that I hear over and over: JUST WRITE.

Since releasing my first book, I have struggled with some of the business and marketing sides. I know what I am doing and what I want to do, but the learning curves are sometimes broad and frustrating. When annoyed, I simply go back to writing.

I have been told that the key to success as an author is having good material which works great because this is how I prefer to spend most of my time.(less)

Top 5 Albums of 2019

In the past I’ve done a Top 10, but this year it became muddy after 5. So I did more honorable mentions instead. Over the years I’ve learned that seeing other people’s lists of favorite music is a great way to discover new music.

I love time travel and wanted to love this book. It’s maybe a little more of a chick book than a time travel book. It’s good but not great. I have a lot of questions, some confusing, etc. But I am glad I read it.

This is a really good book. Could have been fantastic but got a little meh with the jumping back and forth in the last 1/4. Seemed to be filling up space. The end was not very surprising but still well done.

Brad Carl Hi Frank! Thanks for reading my bio and checking in! It wasn't until about 12-15 years ago when the Internet became so filled with information that I learned this about Franklin W. Dixon. I, too, was flabbergasted when I read it because I was just like you growing up - clueless about how these books were written. I still have a lot of my old books. My daughter started to read one (almost 9) but got sidetracked. Maybe some day she'll try again. They might be a little outdated for today's child.

message 3: by Frank

Frank Hey Brad, I just read your bio and am shocked [seriously] to learn that Franklin W. Dixon was a pseudonym -- and a collective one at that! I guess at the age that I was reading those books, I didn't know about pseudonyms, and wasn't experienced enough of a reader to detect style differences. Whatever -- I think I need a drink now.
