For almost all writers, it's a long and winding journey to get published. Being able to push forward, to keep trying, to seek ways to improve, and to both move past and learn from criticism and rejection are all essential. The more you write, the better you'll get at it. The more you pitch your work to publications, the better the chance that you'll get a yes.

And each of those yeses and small steps forward should be fuel for you to keep going. The journey is far from easy, but it's absolutely worth it.(less)

After being married to my entrepreneur husband for nearly a decade, I began to wonder if I was the only one who really struggled with the chaos that a start-up can bring into the family. I wanted to know if our experience was normal; if things would ever get better; and what I could do to keep myself more grounded and my marriage more healthy.

There are vast collections of books advising entrepreneurs on how to build their business, but almost nothing talks about how to invest in your family along the start-up journey. There is even less available for entrepreneurs' spouses and significant others.

This book begins to fill that yawning gap, equipping entrepreneurial couples with the research, practical advice, and tested strategies that can help them balance love and work. Interspersed throughout are stories from my own marriage and from dozens of other couples who have been on the front lines and have learned very valuable lessons about commitment and perseverance through challenging experiences. I want other couples who have been where I have been to know that they are not alone, and that there is always hope that things can improve.(less)

“There is no wasted time or experience in our lives; it all contributes to the development of our spirit and character, our knowledge and skills, and that, in turn, influences our ability to lead and inspire and connect. If you need to be on the sidelines for a few months, years, or even decades, honor that. There is no shame or weakness in healthy choices like that.”
