I don’t expect the possessive desire that swells within me the moment I lock eyes with Carter.
I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life. My whole body responds to him as if it’s programmed to go into heat on sight. It’s made all the more surprising by the fact that he’s the complete opposite of my usual type in almost every way.
He has the brightest blue eyes I’ve ever seen, highlighted further by black eyeliner, and the most genuine smile. His hair is long on one side, shaved close on the other, and all of it is the whitest shade of blond with no hint of darker roots. His eyebrows are black, and his skin is pale. He’s wearing a black shirt with the sleeves rolled up and black leather cuffs on his wrists. He looks like he should be in a rock band.
“Don’t get used to the hair,� he tells me, pushing it back. “Shifting strips the dye out of it.�
I raise my eyebrows, afraid to open my mouth in case some sort of sordid proposition falls out.
How did this happen? I’d been guarding my virginity as if it was a trophy, and the second this guy shows up I’m ready to drop my panties in an instant.
