Alice Lin Read and examine other people鈥檚 craft. If you want to write a dual POV love story, read one! It鈥檒l help you establish pacing. If you want to write a mystery set in a haunted house, read one! It鈥檒l help you develop atmosphere and setting.

That said, a lot of stories have already been written. Your ideas may not be entirely new or original, but there are plenty of ways to give them your unique spin. Write for fun, and if you can, write often (which is advice I鈥檓 guilty of not always following).(less)
